Great Paco! They are indeed really good and a favourite of mine as well! Flying is my favourite song on this album, pure magic.
We stare at our screens

What a waste of eyes..

OK 8)  Hadnt actually heard about it until about a year ago, whereupon I bought it. However, what I was puzzled about was that no other Roomie seems to share my excitement about it  :(

Played:

Explorers Club:  Raising the Mammoth

Hm ???  Not as endearing as Age of Impact, to say the least, altho the track Vertebrates is  8)

Mehuggah:  Catch Thirtythree

Phew, at last I got thru this album in one go. It must count as one of the most unusual albums in my collection, together with Magma's Mëkanïk Dëstruktïẁ Kömmandöh - just the title  ::)

NP  Stealing Axion:  Eventide

www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pEQJqMTIAg

Gonna see these guys at Temple of Doom, Nov 7. Real good stuff, rather special, very atmospheric, guess it's what they call post-metal  *horns*

I really like Damians' singing on this one.
He almost sings like he doesn't care to actually sing on this album.
Unfocused yet strong.
And music wise, it's not the usual type of prog-metal you hear nowadays.

Probably because you read the wrong newspaper. ;)

At least we share the same favorite track/part.
Two progepics, the second entirely instrumental...
I agree with you that Age of Impact, as a whole album, is more ballanced, yet I must say that I do like the second album as well.
Can't really tell which is my favorite though.

Nicky.

And now for something completely different!
If you have troubles with this album/band then I wouldn't recommend the Dutch equivalent band Textures.
I personally like them more than Meshuggah, yet I do think that Catch 33 is an excellent album, for that sub-genre.
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Iggy

Big Big Terrain which is a free CD with a prog magazine.

This months CD has Aeon Zen, Katatonia, The Pineapple Thief and Beardfish on.

JP March of Ghosts, Missa Atrapos and A Night at Lorely by Gazpacho.

JP: Sylvan - Sceneries                           Album of the Year for me so far (the new Discipline was technically 2011).
     Syncromind Project - Syncronized
     Steve Hackett - Spectral Mornings
     Sugar - Beaster

NP: Anathema - Eternity                        My favorite Anathema, I think, with my favorite song of theirs, Angelica.

I wouldn't exactly say that I enjoy listening to Catch Thirtythree. I still don't quite get the trick. One track, yes; but a whole album with that stuff ?

Explain, Mad  ;)

NP  I too got a free cd of samples (InsideOut and Century Media, got it at FONA Strøget in Cop)  8)

Coincidentally it's got two tracks from Moments, the new album of Stealing Axion, two from Monument's new Gnosis, and two from Beardfish's new Void, and some further tracks that don't interest me much.

Coincidentally cuz Stealing Axion and Monuments are two of the groups I'l be seeing live at Temple of Doom  8)

And Moments, Gnosis, and Void will be my next cd purchases  :)

My first play, but I think I like it.  Some songs are more immediately catchy than others for certain, but this grabs me more than the small sampling of Echolyn I'd heard before.
