What do you think so far?

I'v been listening to their earlier albums off and on during the past few years. In my book they'r not quite pantheon, but just below, second-line, like Linkin and Dredg  8)

Btw, I usually use  *horns* to characterise pantheon music,  8) for second-line,  :) for third-line (atm), and  :-\ when I'm unsure.

Awesome music of course gets  *horns* *horns* *horns*

Memories of Machines ~ Warm Winter

Recommended if you like acts like NoMan, early Porcupine Tree or NoSound.

Listened to some Pink Floyd ("The Dark Side Of The Moon" and "Ummagumma") and then "The Visitor".
Actually when I played "The Visitor" my dad came home from work and he didn't complain. I didn't play the whole album. I played this:
04. Elea
05. The Hanging Tree (my dad actually likes this song! ;D)
10. Serenity
11. Tears In The Rain
12. Enemy Without (I think my dad liked this uplifting song)
13. Running From Damascus
14. The Visitor

While he was preparing supper he whistled along with the songs.
Did it really make a difference? Am I even sure he likes it now? Or is this some kind of dream?

The tracks you mention aren't Arena's heaviest stuff, so indeed he may like it. Maybe you should just ask him?  ;)

I was just wandering aroun at YouTube and found this:

This song sounds nice and fresh. 8)
Heavy but melodic.

Anyone know this band "Narnia"?
It's a christian Prog Metal band from Sweden.
Some of their songs sounds much like Dream Theater or Threshold.

I like it. I think I want to check out this band.

Pre-1988 Priest of course  ;)

The reference to King Diamond under the video is apt, and of course Mercyful Fate too.

The guys look like they'v smoked quite a bunch of joints thru the years  :)

NP  Ihsahn:  angL  (on repeat)

Very fulfilling: exploratory and complex, but with a lotta melody and great riffs and buildups, and intriguing lyrics, this guy is one of the most exciting musicians around  *horns* *horns* *horns*

Porcupine Tree - "The Incident"
Disc 2:
2. Bonnie The Cat

Never really played this album much, because I liked FOABP better.
Too bad, because this album deserves to be played!

PH

Porcupine Tree - "In Absentia"
6. Wedding Nails

Awesome instrumental. 8)

Too bad my "In Absentia" disc is damaged. It won't play Blackest Eyes and Strip The Soul.

And today I realized that "Deadwing" is damaged too. One of my favourite albums of all time. :'(

Very appeasing to me, that it is so, really, I must say ;)
Yeah, nice track, btw, it had some airplay in Germany, I believe in the not so distant past.

Wow, what a nice un-cheesy representation of Christianity through Rock music. Downturn for me is the accent, though...

I must confess that this is good musicianship, metal-wise. But I generally do not like to listen to bands that "play" or mock with Christianity, Christian symbolism, or anything the like. That stands as well for Maiden's music and behaviour, and several other bands. Good music, bad attitude. Don't play with fire.
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

I see what you mean.
But it's not really that bad. I don't think it's unbearable. And it's not that they are the only ones with accents.
I've heard it many times in a lot of bands. Satellite, Magic Pie, A.C.T, RPWL and Sylvan. ;)
But I don't bother that much.
The music really kicks bottom. ;D

I've been listening to Porcupine Tree's "Fear Of A Blank Planet" and the even slightly better "Nil Recurring" EP.

Sorry, Funkster.

But you're not getting any vote from this address.  :o

This clip has it all; the band doing their stuff, fire, evil looks. ... very very and also badly stereotype.  :-X

Not a fan.

Again ... sorry. ;)

Porcupine Tree's "Nil Recurring" again.
What do you think?
I think it's one of the best EP's ever made.
I can't believe this is all left overs from the "Fear Of A Blank Planet" sessions. It's just too good for that.
