Very appeasing to me, that it is so, really, I must say ;)

8) Cap, but you ended up with a curious compaction - or concoction: You probably meant either "appealing" or "pleasing" ... but you ended up with something less complimentary  ;)

Btw Paxi, can you rap on "CoolCap" ?  ;D

Downturn for me is the accent, though...

OK, you too are sensitive to accents  8)

I generally do not like to listen to bands that "play" or mock with Christianity, Christian symbolism, or anything the like ... Don't play with fire.

OK, I'm not that sensitive to that, altho I do have limits too. But that's one of the things that in my mind raises Christianity above authoritarian religions like Islam and orthodox Judaism: We can discuss in principle anything freely, and everyone can have their own take on things. That's why I like to say that Christianity is the religion of modern liberal wo/man  8)

In the aspect of authoritarianism, Islam is far worse than Catholicism: First of all, as a Christian, you can opt to stand outside of the authority of the Catholic Church anywhere in the world. Further, in Catholicism, you got a Pope who knows everything better than you; but in Islam, you have a whole hierarchy of ayatollahs and mullahs who can get away with dictating every detail in your life - cuz it's "Allah's purpose" - some of'm even dictate that you should explode a bomb somewhere killing yourself and as many other humans as possible, promising some idiotic idea of getting 70 virgins served on a silver platter  ::)

And if you opt outta that idiocy, it's apostasy, which implies death sentence in many Islamic countries  :(

Well, of course there are many modern liberal Muslims, but I'm still not convined that Islam, in the best of cases, gets anything near the openness, liberalism and mutual respectfulness of Christianity :-\

Man, Cap, ya really got me goin there  :o

But whadaya think about this matter, guys ?

Porcupine Tree's "Nil Recurring" again.
What do you think?
I think it's one of the best EP's ever made.
I can't believe this is all left overs from the "Fear Of A Blank Planet" sessions. It's just too good for that.

I think that Stephen did a good job with skipping these tracks. ;)
Porcupine Tree can do so much better than what they've presented us on Nil Recurring.
The same goes for the second cd on The Incident.
Only Bonny the Cat can reach the high PT standards, the rest is just ... rubbish.

Rewiring Genesis ~ A Tribute to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

Basically it's the project of Nick D'virgilio (the drummer of the Mighty Beard) and producer Mark Hornsby and a couple of guest musicians but let me tell you one thing: this is by far the best tribute album anyone ever made in the extensive history of tribute albums.

Let's speed things up here!

Radiance ~ The Burning Sun

Project of one Finish dude, with Mats Levén on vox, you know from Therion and Amaseffer.
Probably not to anyone's liking because quite aggressive but very entertaining indeed!!

The Butterfly Man

I also discovered a new band (project) just minutes ago. It's called For All We Know.

Anyway, here you can have a listen to a preview here: http://vimeo.com/20167294

The album will be released on April 25th.

Time for a bit of a bump! ;)

I've been listenening to this album a lot lately and it is a masterpiece. It's very moody with the occasional outburst of heavy riffing. The music is pretty original with a fair bit of Porcupine Tree - and Pain of Salvation influences thrown in for good measure. The playing is superb but the singer (Wudstik) is the highlight of the album for me. He really captivates me with his voice. 8)

Guys, check it out!!! *horns*

Wudstik was very good on 01011001. It was only just for a couple of minutes, but not bad at all.
I'm not much into hap or riprop, but another (prog) rock/metal project with Wudstik is not doomed in advance.
Will check it out.

Hm, Funky, my attempts with Candlemass havent really been successful. Guess what I'v heard is too slow and doomy, and too little melody.

You think I'd like EDM ?

8) Teunis.

Yeah, Contagion has it all  *horns* *horns* *horns*

I too am real curious about their - and I'm really really hoping - forthcoming album  ;)

JP  Marillion:  Misplaced Childhood

A great classic  *horns* *horns* *horns*

from the time when Marillion were one of the most exciting bands on this planet. And not only was Fish tremendous, but also Rothery and the other guys were doin exciting stuff.

Then they broke up, and Fish took the excitement with him, while Marillion settled down to become a middle-aged, middle-of-the-road band, maybe with subtle lyrics, but the music  ???

Well, I know that some of you guys disagree - each to theirs ... but Cap agrees with me  :)

NP  Korn III: Remember Who You Are

Their latest, from 2010.

Now, I find Korn music difficult to get into. When I get an album with'm that I havent heard before, I'm initially sated after 4-5 songs. But after a while, I really get into it, and then listen the entire album thru with relish. This is a real progressive band that reveals its stuff gradually.

I'm really lookin forward to hearin'm live at Copenhell  8)

Abigail by King Diamond

A concept album with multiple characters and different vocal styles. But is it a progressive metal album ?

Whatever , it is a damn fine metal album and quicker and not as doomy as Candlemass - Nicky you should love it  ;)

PH

I'm listening to Karmakanic - "Entering The Spectra"
8. Is This The End?

This album makes me think of Pink Floyd in more ways than one. The singer sounds very much like Roger Waters. And the music has a Pink Floyd feel to it.

This track in particular sounds like a cross between Pink Floyd and Dream Theater actually.

Nice music. Are there fans here?
