NP The John Irvine Band - Wait & See

A completely random choice on progstreamingclassic.com First song playing right now and it's nice. Seems like we are in the jazz rock category.
I really enjoyed this one -I played it twice and I confirm the instrumental jazz rock tag, but very melodic and not too demonstrative- so I am now listening to his latest, this time on progstreaming.com

NP The John Irvine Band - Next Stop

NP Caravan - Paradise Filter

I had never heard anything from Caravan or any other Canterbury Scene's band (or I don't remember it at all) apart from a few Camel albums that did not grip me but I did not expect the music to be so accessible/poppy. Interesting.

BP  The Firm:  I

The first of two studio albums by the group. Not a splash, but Jimmy Page is always worth listening to, and Paul Rodgers sings very well *horns*

Nice album to chill out to once in a while 8)

I have listened to a fair bit of Caravan and enjoy the stuff from the 70's. I lived in Canterbury in the 80's and enjoyed it immensely. I lived about 200 metres from the place that nine feet underground was based on (album in the land of grey and pink).

NP - Insurgentes - Steven Wilson

Off topic I saw Transatlantc last night and had a great time they were on great form. I also discovered someone from my office who went which is good as I will have another gig buddy.

Nice story Iggy, thanks for sharing  ;)

NP IZZ - The Darkened Room

This album is really a fresh, modern, clever and moving piece of music. I find rather weird that this band is never mentioned in the Room but, hey, life is unfair ...

I only have Mabool that I like without being completely fond of it.

NP Karmakanic - Live in the US

Wow, Karmakanic is a band that I never checked, thinking it would be too similar to The Flower Kings but I might have been terribly wrong ... Very promising at first listen.

Also tried this one, but it doesn't seem to be my cup of tea. Noticed that after one and a half tracks ;).

This afternoon I played my latest purchases:
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (Needs no further introduction I suppose :))
Gazpacho - Demon (The anticipation was there, heard it once so far. Way different from the last two releases. Needs a few more listenings but it really has potention. I bet in the end it will turn out as way better than the previous two albums, but don't know if it will top 'Night' and 'Tick Tock'. Only time will tell ;))

I have it but don't seem to have listened to it recently.

NP Dream Theater - Dream Theater. I still struggle to find much that is new but it is pleasant to listen too.

I have this as well but haven't ventured into their past yet.

Probably because the CD's are still quite expensive.

I consider Mabool a great album. Give it a few more runs, and you'l see, Bupie *horns*

Otoh their previous studio album El Norra Alila hasn't clicked :-\

Funny. These three bands have something in common. Mood. Ambiance. Atmosphere. These guys know how to do it right!

Obviously I was in the mood for this kind of music :).

Gazpacho - Demon (getting better and better with each spin.)
RPWL - Wanted (some very nice moments, but also moments I really disliked. Not an album I would buy.)

Unique, authentic, aggressive, gloomy - is that enuff, Paxi ?

Metallica are Metallica - they don't need to justify themselves *horns*

When I hear Metallica, I don't think or compare, I just feel at home :)

I do however like their later stuff better than the early, more depth 8)

How are you with'm, Paxi ?

You mean the CD's in general or IZZ's ? Because you can find them at a fairly decent price on progrock.co.uk  ;)

How are you with'm, Paxi ?

Well, a few of my fellow students were pretty hot on them. So I heard quite a few songs. But based on their further interests (both musically and otherwise) I didn't think too much of it. I tried listening to "Death Magnetic" when it came out, but I just don't find it interesting enough. I also listened to "Master Of Puppets" because that seems to be the best one according to almost anybody. It's even considered by some to be a masterpiece (of puppets) on ProgArchives. But I cannot really see why.
So they're not really in my niche.

Today I played:
Ray Wilson - "Chasing Rainbows"
Squackett - "A Life Within A Day"
Genesis - "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway"

Now playing:
Big Big Train - "English Electric, Part One"

I'm in a Genesis mood apparently.

EDIT:
This seems to be my 6666th post. And it's about Metallica. How very metal!
