Bombastic has a negative ring in my ears, as too much of something. E.g. Muse can be bombastic ;)

That's exactly the thing I like about Muse. And it doesn't have a negative ring to my ears. I like my music bombastic!

I'm actually quite fond of Tormato, sort of like Going's little brother ;)

Jon let his imagination fly on this one, and there are some magic moments :)

Perhaps you should tell me more about "Tormato" then. In the Yes topic.

You definitely have to listen to Endless Dream some more, it's a great suite *horns*

I will.

You can see what happened - again: Tom came back, and I shook up the dudes. That occasioned some lively days. And then: The past week we'v been back to normal: Basically you and me talking together ;)

So you're still unemployed?
Sorry, that sounds a bit harsh. Don't mean it that way. Well, let me tell you a bit about why I am online so often. I used to have a contract for 24 hours a week. But in september I became a student again (after not having studied for two years) so I asked for a contract of twelve hours a week. More time for studying. The 'funny' thing is, I quit being a student again a few months back... Too many problems involving my study. So now I'm left with a twelve hour contract and no education. In these times it's difficult to get back to a contract of 24 hours. In fact, I'm glad I still have this job (because I love what I do).
Anyway, it leaves me with plenty of time to write these kind of lenghty posts.
Man... isn't this off topic?

Quote from: Nicky007 on Thu, 2014-03-06, 18:56:23
Yes, I experience that too. Particularly after having visited so many other music sites. There are lotta people on the Net that really are into running down others. When I think back of the Nevermore site, it still runs cold down my back :(

Yes. People often are trying to be funny at the expense of others. And it's easy for them to write something down from behind their computer screen.
From the safety of a chat room. I have looked into your soul. Looked into your sooooooouuuuuuuul!

sorry

I like very active music, and it has to be tight, and a lot of variation.

Yeah, then I'l have to listen to it again .... Else, maybe Iggy could write something. And you could play it again, Paxi :)

;) Yup!

Sorry, that sounds a bit harsh.

That's OK :)

It's become rather common. And particularly for edgy people like me, it's difficult to find an ordinary job. And I'm still doing practical stuff re my Mom's passing.

Yes. People often are trying to be funny at the expense of others.

It's such a waste of time, for both parties.

Nowadays I just leave such situations. But I can imagine that some people get frightened. And what's that supposed to be good for ?

Quote

;D Paxi

I can't even remove my own wrinkles :D

Oh man, do I love ironing ::)

Stopped doin it years ago. People have to accept some wrinkles in my shirts and pants. It's part of my personality ;)

If that puts'm off, then f*'m, if they don't have something more interesting to do :-\

Paxi, Hammer Of The Emperor is actually a good example of what I mean with "active, tight, and varied music". Did you ever get around to listening to it ? Else here:

Wow. A nice smasher here.

I did a search on the web for Darren James Smith, the singer, whose voice I find familiar somehow. Found nothing, gave up after 12 pages of google results. Firewind came to my mind, a power metal band that I listened to a few years back. Will have to dig em out again :)

I'm listening to a few Lee Abraham songs on YouTube (this one for instance) and I am liking what I hear.
He has a new album out (so it seems) and there are quite a few interesting names that he has worked with either in the past or on his new album:

I clicked the link. I wanted to close the window again, but then the chorus came up, which is very uplifting. Really like this song now :)

Bupie, I guess what you mean is that you have to force yourself to listen to it ?

I have Seasons End, Holidays in Eden, Brave, Afraid of Sunlight, Anoraknophobia, and Marbles, the reason being:

1) I'm a big fan of Fish-Marillion, they'r pantheon with me

2) H-Marillion are big in the Room.

Every so often, I convince myself that there must be something to it, and I play one of'm ... here and there some nice melody, some gripping rhythms, then I hope ... but then it leaves off, and then there's atmosphere, aaatmosphere, H wails a bit ..... I actually like U2 better, because they have some more drive and pulse, altho they also get monotonous after a while.

Well, I guess that it's another way of saying that you're not alone, Bupie ;)

Great to see you so active here, guess it helped that I tugged you a bit in the b*s ;D

Seconded... eh thirded you might say.... what you giuys said about H-Marillion.

Just started "Tormato" by Yes.

Iggy

Yessongs - Yes the remaster has made a big difference but given that it was 1973 it is still less good than most new live albums. The set list is pretty much the same as the one they will play in May. Fragile, Close to the Edge and The Yes Album.

To be honest, I got a bit bored with "Tormato". So halfway I switched to:

Yes - "The Ladder"

The first two songs, Homeworld (The Ladder) and It Will Be A Good Day (The River), are really good! The first one is more reminiscent of Classic Yes. For some reason I'm mostly reminded of the "Going For The One" album, but perhaps even "Close To The Edge".
The second song has the catchiness of Rabin-Yes. I love these songs!
Then it's a party song Lightning Strikes (which is really not my cup of tea).
Can I is a funny interlude, but it's not really a song.
Face To Face is better already but not a standout track.
If Only You Knew is a very pretty pop song. I like it.
To Be Alive (Hep Yadda) is another highlight for me. Very catchy stuff. Again more Rabin spirited than Classic Yes. I like Jon Anderson's singing a lot here.
On Finally however, Jon sounds like a hard rock singer (is it actually even him?) Not a good move if you´d ask me. (Again it's not a bad song per se, but I'm not crazy about it.)
When The Messenger kicks in, I'm fully awake again thanks to Squire's tasty bass. He probably liked it too, because it is repeated during the whole song. The rest of the song is alright.
New Language is back in Classic Yes territory (sort of) with a nice 2 minute intro. Tasty keyboard stuff from this crazy Russian (keyboard)player. (I just read a story about him and why he is not in Yes anymore...) This song is actually pretty representative for the whole album, because it's a Rabin-Yes song, sandwiched by Classic Yes instrumentals.
Nine Voices (Longwalker) is like an outro for this album. It sounds very nice, but it's actually nothing really special.

Favourite songs: Homeworld (The Ladder), It Will Be A Good Day (The River), If Only You Knew, To Be Alive (Hep Yadda) and New Language. These songs are very well placed on the album. A very nice album which I probably still will be playing a lot in the future.

Also played Yes - "Fly From Here"
I haven't played this album much, but the Fly From Here suite is nice already. I can say that I do miss Jon's voice a lot. Benoît is not a bad singer by any means! But Yes without Jon Anderson just is not the same... Not only because of his voice, he's a big part in the songwriting too. I hope Yes will reunite with Jon Anderson in the future.

Just finished listening to quite a lot of (older) Riverside songs on YouTube. It re-ignited my interest in these albums. Back in 2005 I was listening a lot to these albums, but my interests where shifting away from this band. Last year I bought "S.O.N.G.S." and I guess now I need all their albums!

(I will listen to "Tormato" again, but I guess today was not the right time)

Of the Rabin era, I only know "90125" (which I really like) and "Talk" (which is also really nice indeed). I don't have "Big Generator" yet. I also plan to get "Union", but that doesn't really count as Rabin-Yes, right?
In fact it makes me wonder, what if we all meet in real life? Do you think we would get on well? It's probably never gonna happen, but still.
Actually, I should be in Amsterdam for four or five days on late April so I would be glad to see some of you Dutch Roomies if you live in the neighbourhood  :)

Played:

Sparks:  A Woofer In Tweeter's Clothing

Fine album, very imaginative and playful, and Russell already has his fabulous voice, but not quite Kimono, Indiscreet, and Propaganda *horns*

In the cd-booklet: "It is a big record that demanded a wide audience. It didn't get one."

Well, this goes for a lotta music that I listen to, but arguably Sparks are the group that have been cheated most of merited appreciation :(

Limp Bizkit:  Significant Other

Also super album *horns*

We're in Draco territory here ;)

Bit like Linkin Park, but where LP are rather aggressive, LB are more playful :)

Guest appearances on this album by Jonathan Davis and Scott Weiland 8)

NP  Bal-Sagoth:  Starfire Burning Upon The Ice-Veiled Throne Of Ultima Thule  *horns*

Or in short: Ultima Thule. Their second. A good starter album for Sagoth, as it is far more melodic and lively than their first, Lemuria, and not as complex as their later albums 8)
