See, that's where I don't agree. ;)

OK, Mad, maybe Blood wasnt the best example. I took it as a starter for Roomies cuz it's one of To-Mera's more accessible songs.

Here, try Parfum then:

and Arcane Solace, the entry piece on their official MySpace:

Here you can hear that To-Mera are not only progressive, but avant-garde.

NP  To-Mera:  Parfum  (on repeat)

I do agree with the avant-garde thing.
A little though.
Real avant garde are bands like the King Crimson (their latest albums) or Magma.
Somewhere To-Mera does come close but not quite. ...

See, it's hard to please me sometimes. ;)

I will listen and watch the Youtube linkies later this week. I promise. ;)

The Butterfly Man

Quote from: Nicky007 on Fri, 2010-06-18, 14:04:34
Hm, surprising, considering how much music you and I share, Tom  ???

I really put effort into getting into it, but as I said earlier, "it didnt take off" for me  :-\

But OK, I'l pick it up again on occasion  :)

What do you think of the two Mullmuzzler albums ?

Nicky.

Yeah I really like Elements Of Persuation, can't help it. I still listen to it regularly. But I heard there's a new James LaBrie solo-album coming out in September, so maybe that'll prove to be more to your liking!

I don't know the Mullmuzzler albums, so let's turn this around. What do you think? Should I check 'em out?

NP: The shuffle-function on my iPod is active at the moment, these are the five latest played tracks:

- Ayreon - And The Druids Turn To Stone
- Ephrat - Real
- Opeth - Face Of Melinda
- Dredg - Bug Eyes
- Amorphis - Sky Is Mine

NP: Cloudkicker - The Discovery

This is a one-man band that plays insane instrumental progressive metal, it reminds me of Meshuggah at times. I discovered them (him?) yesterday and so far listened to The Discovery only once, but I was instantly impressed!

You know what the good thing is? You can download Cloudkicker's entire discography for free (and legally) here: http://sites.google.com/site/cloudkickeruk2/

I recommend you start with The Discovery, 'cause that's what I did! :D

In truth, Tom, I only know the first MullMuzzler album, Keep It To Yourself. But it's good enuff to make me wanna listen to the second, James LaBrie's MullMuzzler 2.

Well, KITY is a mixed bag. There are some real great songs on it, like His Voice, which rock like crazy and where Jamie's rather smooth voice shines. Then there are songs like Beelzebubba, which don't make any sense to me, and which I now ff.

But definitely, to any DT-fan, particularly those who like Jamie's singing (like I do now), I can only recommend the album warmly - Tom, Mad, Bups  ;)

Spock's Beard ~ The Beard is Out There

Awesome live registration of their performance during Progfest in the States about fourteen years ago.

The Light is amazing but this version, plus the song Thoughts pt I and Out on the Edge makes it a must-have for every prog/sympho minded person.

Male or female.  ;D

Oh by the way:

Hmm, Shadow Gallery...okay, that's an opinion.
Not mine but obvious to a certain extend.

Glass Hammer however...is totally different than Wolverine. Can't be compared with Wolverine in my opinion, let alone with Shadow Gallery.
Glass Hammer is more symfo than the other two, american band with Christian ideals and lyrics, quite good.

Wolverine is quite melodic and made some excellent albums. Their latest Still (2006) however is one that you hear, like but also soon forget.

Both The Window Purpose and The Cold Light of Monday are quite better I'd say.
They threw the towel in the ring back in 2007 but the news is that they are together again. Might be wrong about that.

Okay, that's an opinion.

If you compare To-Mera with After Forever, Mad, then I can compare Wolverine with Glass Hammer. My comparison is not as Mad as yours  :P

Thanx for the tips on Wolverine albums  :)
