NP Blue Note Trip Vol. 1

BP Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here

First listen, with headphones. Totally awesome, they just keep getting better with each new album. This one has had a long time to mature of course ;) Likely to be my favourite of 2010. Really hope they gain the bigger exposure they so very much deserve now!

BP Marillion - Size Matters, featuring yours truly on Kayleigh/Lavender with the rest of the crowd ;)

NP  Dream Theater:  Awake

Man I'm still stuck on this amazing album  *horns*

I'v played it some five times these past three days, and nothing else  8)

I'm simply dumbstruck by all the creativity and care they put into this album. There's everything a progmetal geek wants here: I really like Jamie's singing on this album - lotta feeling and fine detail (Greenie, give this one a few spins, yal like it, I'm sure) - Petrucci's already unbelievable here, Portnoy has more expression and variation in a passage of 10 secs than many other drummers have over a whole album, Myung creates that solid base that makes everything else possible for the DT-guys, and Kevin Moore conjures up those great atmospheres - I kinda miss him nowadays ... but then again Rudess aint too bad either, huh guys  :)

And these guys know what composition and melody is - for sure - they don't just go off on some dumb rave - everything under control, with care  8)

Man, all this great progmetal around, and what are people listenin to: Syrup, sentimentality, and junk - jeez !!!

How about quality, people ? - Not directed toward Roomies, you guys know what quality is, even when I don't always agree on yer priorities  :)

Yep, Awake is definitely one heck of an album. It was my first introduction to DT (apart from the track Another Day), still remember listening it in the record store and being very intrigued by it. Hasn't lost any of its magic! The epic A Mind Beside Itself, the crunching riffs of Mirror/Lie, my favourite DT ballad Space-Dyve Vest.. And 6:00 is such a great opener, I don't agree with you Nicky that the album starts to get good at track three (I actually find that a lesser track, relatively speaking of course, it's still the mighty DT).

The singer is Magali Luyten, who we know from Arjen's 01 album. What a rocker  *horns*
Oh, and the uploader did a real good job putting all the metal beauties in the "video" :)  *drool*

Arriving somewhere, but not here....

It's funny that we're so opposite on this one, Erik:  6:00, Caught In A Web, and Space-Dye Vest are DT-songs I could do without. I've listened to'm many times now, 6:00 and Caught don't bother me any longer, but they sure don't grip me (except for one passage in Caught).

But the rest of the album - whew !!!

Yeah I remember we've discussed this before in some other thread and came to the same conclusion  :)
Well, we agree about the rest, that's still the mayor chunck of the album ;)

I'm really happy that there is so much fine music on their official MySpace. I'v played it thru some ten times now  8)

I havent found any of their albums in stores and libraries in Copenhagen  :(

But their time will come. They'r simply too good to remain under the radar  *horns*

Guys, this is a great band  ;)

So, while I'v been listening to Mera (  :D ) I'v been working on my Listening Profile, adding a foreword and some other stuff  ;)

Much more my taste, remind me of Arcturus and Enslaved (all Norwegian, Tom  ;) ), tho not quite as good as Sideshow Symphonies - but then again, what is ?

Great album (second run)  *horns*

Their latest album, from 2010, the first since 2001.

Great album, heavier than their earlier albums, but still very melodic and tight (tho not prog)  *horns*

That, my dear Nicky, made me think of another grunge album that carries the Grunge-flag:

Temple of the Dog ~ S/T

It's been way too long since I last heard this album.

Awesome!!
