;D Jonesey. Quite an oxymoron  *horns*

Does it always take that long or did you have the usual delays? ;)

When I travel thru The Netherlands by train, it's a continuous scramble of border officials:  German-Dutch-Belgian-French or vice-versa. The least the marshies could do for us travelers was to stop the train and serve a solid (veggie) meal so that we had some experience of being in marshland  ;D

Savatage... Savatage... Aren't those the guys who also did Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas albums?
Those were really nice! ;D

Jon Oliva's in TSO, but it's a very different kettle of broccoli from Savatage, Paxi.

Hmmm broccoli... with cheese...

The cheese is for you, Paxi. 1 kg of it gets stuffed down your throat ala Bupsie's foie gras treatment.

The broccoli is for me  :)

NP  Scar Symmetry:  Holographic Universe

Admittedly very heavy, and some mf of a pounding drummer !  My friends have told me / complained about that, and I can see their point. However, it seems to me that there's an extraordinary depth to this album, which I can only hint at presently.

Pitch Black Progress is clearly the one to start with  ;)

These guys are highly original, and for anyone who can tackle very heavy stuff with growl, their albums are very special treats  *horns*

And Hanin, I don't know Moon Safari. What are they like ?

i'm sorry Nick if i'am too late to answer it  :-[
Moon safari's song is reminiscent me to Yes with more vocal act. Good harmony in vocal, with nice keyboard line.
There is no Metal sound, all of their stuff is just nice and sweet.
You can imagine a backstreet boys or westlife that try to act progrock  ;D
I feel their music is fine to accompany us in reading a novel or even a 'harder' book.

3. Have A Cigar

Guys, also try out Queensrÿche's fabulous cover of this song on www.myspace.com/queensryche .

Not as edgy as Floyd's version, but a catchy radio-friendly version with Geoff's terrific voice burning thru  8)

From Wiki - Roy Harper:  "Harper is also known for his guest lead vocals on Pink Floyd's song Have A Cigar."

Also pretty groovy is their version of 'Welcome to the Machine' on the 'Take Cover' album.  Whilst on the subject of Floyd covers, I'm much enthused with Les Claypool's efforts, especially the 'Live Frogs Set 2' CD, which is 'Animals' played in it's entirety *horns*  But best of all must be that excerpt from 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' that Riverside have merged seamlessly with 'Back to the River' - takes my breath away every time! 8)

That's actually what I was thinking of. I don't know how I could confuse Machine and Cigar  ???

Probably cause the first sorta segues into the second on Wish  :-[

2. No Me No You

Ahhh yes! 8) I remember hearing this album for the first time in 2006 and I was blown away! It still is good. EIMA is on the same level, but very different!

NP  Floyd:  Wish You Were Here

One of'm absolute best  *horns*

and still has tremendous edge, even after these 35 years  :o

Wondering who the "you" is in the title song  ???

Anyone got any proposals ?

Quite a new experience to hear the 1992 remaster. A lot of effects that I hadnt noticed previously (or can't remember), despite innumerable listens (with/out smoke etc.)  ;D

Btw Bupsie, have you ever delved into these Floyd classics ?  You never talk about Floyd  ???

I guess that would be Syd Barett. I think the whole album is about him.
