Yes - Yessongs.

Much easier to listen to in these mp3 days.  In the vinyl era there were six sides to be manipulated, which kind of made the whole experience disjointed. Cracking album, though! *horns*

For some strange reason, Pantera are usually classified together with groups like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax, but in my experience, they have far more to offer than these other bands, more intensity, anguish, forthrightness, imagination, somehow.

Now I'm talkin about their last two albums, Trendkill and Reinventing. I'm not familiar with their earlier albums, which according to Wikipedia are more glam metal like.
Nicky.

??? Glam metal ? I never listende to Pantera but I always thought it was some kind of trash metal ala Metallica or Megadeth ...

NP - Nothing but yesterday I played the two CD's of Nightwish's End of an Area on constant repeat for five hours while building a 3,50 meters long shelf on a wall of my backcourt. And let me tell you : listening to Ghost Love Score while you are working outside on a snowy day by 0° celsius is a great experience  *horns*

Thrash, Bupsie, thrash, the usual problem with all those dumbassed countries that don't have a proper "th"  ::)

Well, I read in Wikipedia that it was the four albums of Pantera prior to Cowboys From Hell that were referred to with "glam metal". All studio albums by Pantera from Cowboys on - Cowboys, Vulgar Display Of Power, Far Beyond Driven, The Great Southern Trendkill, Reinventing The Steel - are supposed to be great.

I have the last two of'm, and they sure are terrific. I'v been listening to them (almost) exclusively the past three days. There's a lot of fine stuff to be found there  *horns*

NP : Amaseffer - The Wooden Staff
Finally, i've got this stuff. And this song is one of good thing from this debut album. Though classified as a prog-met band, their sound is smooth and play in mid tempo.

Ok, I admit that Amaseffer has a unique sound and nice melody, but i will not place this album as the best 2008 album, or even  as a best prog album ever.
I still have Pendragon's Pure, Believe's Yesterday is a Friend, Caamora's She, Magenta's Metamorphosis, Willowglass's Book of Hours, Ayreon's 01011001, and of course my number one album of 2008, Presto Ballet's The Lost Art of Time Travel, that has better impression for me   *horns*   *horns*

Nice list though. And i agree with you about the new Presto Ballet album. Truly a great album indeed.

Hey, Mad, you're getting as bad as me. Whaddaya think Bups and Paxi are thinking ?

NP  Opeth:  Burden  (on repeat)

Ooo, man, that piece has not only gone under my skin, but right into my heart.

It's amazing how much feeling Mikael & Co. have gotten into their music, considering that they started out as a whambam growly band.

With Watershed, Opeth have risen into my top league, together with Nevermore and DT, and thus have to be my fave Scandinavian band  8)

Took some time, but that was the case with DT and Nevermore too, and I would think with all ingenious music  :)

Guys, if ya dont yet have Watershed, then you're really id!  No, wait, as our good/bad Mad says:  Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion - even if it's stupid

Hey, Mad & Tom, what do you guys think of Watershed after some spins now ?

Nice product descripton (Amazon.com):  "2008 album from the forward-thinking Swedish titans, who seemlessly and fluidly combine Metal, Classic Rock, Prog, Folk and Free Form Jazz. With this, their ninth effort, Opeth continue to shake things up, turn the corner and push the limits of their sound. And the results are breathtaking. Ultimately, Watershed sounds at once completely like and absolutely nothing like previous Opeth records. Watershed takes all that is Opeth, and goes where Opeth have never gone before."

PH

I was listening to The Lamb Lies Down on braodway.
And today I also listened to a lot of other Genesis songs. It's always a good thing when my dad and I are listening to music together. Normally he's whining about my music, the music I listen to. But today he even didnt complan about music like Kaipa. LOL, which is a good thing.
But we share a love fo Genesis.
Now I really should try to get him into Arena. He likes On The Box from contagion, so it's not all lost. ;)
