Awesome !!!  (a word I rarely use)

Jeff is the guitarist of Nevermore.

Reminds me of some of Steve Vai's instrumental stuff, but Jeff is more complex.

Tom, as a guitarist, whaddaya think ?

NP  Pantera:  The Great Southern Trendkill

Pantera are a highly original band. They seem more alert than most other heavies; there are constant shifts and changes, both in the instrumentation and in Phil's singing, and basically no cliches like long thrash passages.

It's unpleasant music, a bad thing for most people, but for me it's an incentive.

I got Trendkill and Reinventing The Steel some time ago somewhat casually, but now I'v decided to get properly into these crazy guys  *horns*

Already on first proper run, this stuff grips me; that makes it easy  :)

Anyone else into Pantera ?

Nicky.

Funny, i haven't heard anything of Ritual. Strange actually.
If i recall correctly the guitarist of Ritual is also the guitarist of Kaipa and that one i do like.

Must dive into Ritual.  8)

NP> Amaseffer - Exodus: Slaves For Live

Without a doubt the best album of this year and i even dare to say that it's the best prog-album ever made!  *horns* *horns* *horns*

:D haha very funny indeed! You NEED to hear this. I think you'll really like it!
I don't know the other Ritual albums though. (From samples I can say that I don't like them as much as The Hemulic Voluntary Band.)

:D You silly. :) The vocalist/guitarist of Ritual is also the vocalist of Kaipa.
The guitarist of Kaipa is Per Nilsson (and formerly Roine Stolt of course, but I guess you knew THAT! :D)

NP Atom Heart Mother an under rated little album by Pink Floyd

NP  Pantera: Floods  (on Trendkill, on repeat)

Terrific song  *horns*

I'v really become captivated by Pantera recently, and they'v become one of my fave groups. I find'm far more exciting than Metallica.

For some strange reason, Pantera are usually classified together with groups like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax, but in my experience, they have far more to offer than these other bands, more intensity, anguish, forthrightness, imagination, somehow.

Now I'm talkin about their last two albums, Trendkill and Reinventing. I'm not familiar with their earlier albums, which according to Wikipedia are more glam metal like.

I'l get some more of their albums when finances allow, but I have a hunch that these two albums represent the most exciting period in Pantera's development, 1995-2001.

NP  Atom Heart Mother, an underrated album by Pink Floyd

Right, Iggy, even the Floyd guys seem to disown it.

When I was a teenager, AHM meant just as much to me as Dark Side Of The Moon, which was supermuch !
