Ahum...

But that's a very sad story maddox!
By the way, I'm glad I know a shop where the shopkeepers know every Prog band. ;)
Oh shit, you weren't talking about Prog bands... You were talking about, what is it again, scifi series.
Don't know anything about them... Sorry :P

::) ::) ::)                                                                                                                                       ;D

Today i, inspired as i was  ;), started looking on the internet and in the big city (Utrecht), for some DVDsets of Farscape, but sadly it was nowhere to be found.  :( Even when i asked for it, some shopkeepers started to stare at me as if i was telling a ferytale. I hate that.  >:(

Still no succes. I wonder if there are any... :-\
:( That's no good, is it? Are you able to order from Play.com? Not that I'd encourage you to spend loads but...

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/CART/5-/Search.html?searchtype=r2title&searchstring=Farscape&page=search&go.x=31&go.y=3&cur=258

or, if you can play Region 1 dvds...

http://www.playusa.com/DVD/Region_1/5-/Search.html?searchstring=farscape+starburst&searchtype=r1title

It's a slippery slope if you step on it, be warned!  :D ;)

Appelmoes??

I think I saw a dvd-box of farscape at Van Leest in Enschede a week ago.

Thanx mate.  ;) The most difficult thing will be to make a choice here... :-\

Just looked on the site of van Leest and yes, they have one DVD. Can't figure out if it is more than one episode, so i'll continue my search...

To be continued...

No probs  ;)

Hmm, choices...  Well, if you're going to go for the individual releases, rather than the complete season box sets, you could do worse than start with volumes 1.7 and 1.8...

Whatever you do, don't read the episode descriptions on the page this links to - they give away the whole plot!!  >:(

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/80859/Farscape_Vols_1_7_1_8/Product.html

It contains the episode A Human Reaction which, for me, was the point where the series really took off and I think it's safe to watch it without seeing the previous episodes and - if you enjoy it - then go back and see the others  ;D

If you do get any we'd better have a separate Farscape thread before we get kicked out of this one  :D :D :D

Appelmoes??

Perhaps Peter can split this one up into a SciFi topic?

That seems to be a odd thing to do. :-\ Starting to watch the series without seeing the first episode. Well, you probably know what you're talking about.  ;)

  ;D

I was assuming that you knew what the series was about etc, but if not then absolutely start with the first episode, Premiere  ;D

A Human Reaction was the episode that really hooked me - I found the series enjoyable up to then, but from that point onwards it became essential viewing  8)

Changing tack slightly, has anyone else been watching the new Battlestar Galactica?

Well, we recently had a couple of episodes here on the telly, but for some reason the stopped broadcasting it.
Nice serie btw. At first i was a bit dissapointed 'cos the actors and the story are quite, ehm,...slow. But when you're 'into' the series, it's not so bad after all. :)

It took a couple of episodes when i first saw the new robots, and let me say: They're pretty amazing.

Especially the blonde lady.  ;D

Do they do that a lot - show a couple of episodes and then stop?

It's a great series, you're right, quite slow in places but very dark and uncompromising  :)

Yay for the dvd, I'm looking forward to seeing what you think  :)

Well, some broadcasting stations here in Holland are commercial ones, so you never know what they think.  :( If it's good for the money they continue the program, but if it's not... The end .>:(

There is a chance though that it was the end of the season. You know, just like Star Trek Voyager. 24 episodes and then it ends to begin again at no. 1 of season two, for instance. But you probably knew that already.  :D

Somehow i never got into Babylon 5.  :-\ Bruce Boxenleitner ( if i spell it correctly ) was in there wasn't he?

I've seen quite a few episodes of Deep Space Nine though, and that one was pretty nice. Especially those episodes of the Dominion-wars.

Blimey you're moving quick, I've just got up to War Without End, quite possibly the greatest two-parter in any series  8)

...Although I will qualify that by saying that Farscape surpassed it with the Liars, Guns & Money three parter  :D  ;)

Yeah, Bruce Boxleitner - he of the cheesy grin  :D

Babylon 5 is amazing, especially the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons. If you like sci-fi you really have to see it  ;D

I enjoyed Deep Space Nine but I must admit my interest in Star Trek was diminishing at that point. I loved the original series and Next Gen, but by the time DS9 arrived I'd moved on to The X Files. I keep meaning to rent the dvds and watch it again but I never seem to get round to it  ::)

On the subject of the new Battlestar Galactica, it really is terrific - the best sci-fi series since Babylon 5 and Farscape finished. We've got the final episode of the 2nd season showing in the UK tonight, should be a cracker  ;D

Up to 4x08 The Illusion of Truth, then watched the Thirdspace movie cos that's where it's supposed to fit in. Works quite well, actually  ;D

The first season is pretty weak, imo, but it picks up significantly after that  ;D

Did you ever get your Farscape dvds?

I'm currently working my way through Deep Space Nine (I'm up to episode 5x11). Really enjoying it and I've just about reached the point where I stopped watching originally, so it's all going to be new and exciting from now on  ;D

Also rewatching Star Trek The Next Generation, up to mid season 3 so far. Watched Yesterday's Enterprise last night and even after all these years it's still awesome  *horns*

Also been watching the last few episodes of season 1 of Supernatural. Don't know if you've got this in your country yet but it's great fun, quite scary and dark, well worth looking out for if you enjoyed the likes of The X Files and Buffy  ;D

I'm quite excited because the new seasons of Battlestar Galactica, Smallville and Supernatural start later this month and a friend is very kindly going to send me copies of them  *horns*

Hmm, i think the two opening episodes i saw last saturday was very promising. Though the whole story reminds me a bit of Star Trek Voyager. You know, stranded a lot of light years from home and no device (caretaker or in Atlantis, a powercell) to get back. Other than that i was pretty pleased.

QuoteDid you ever get your Farscape dvds?

Yes. And now your probably will ask: Did you watched them? Than the answer would be.

No.  :-[ I ordered and recieved two boxes and i haven found the time yet to watch them.  :-[

Hmm. Time to be ill.  ;D

QuoteAlso rewatching Star Trek The Next Generation, up to mid season 3 so far. Watched Yesterday's Enterprise last night and even after all these years it's still awesome  *horns*

Pretty awesome isn't it?  :D Right now i have season 1 till three and the rest surely will follow. The only problem is there are more nice things on my got-to-get list.  :-\
Enterprise (with Scott Bakula) is on the telly again. Unfortunatly it's the first season.  :-\ Which off course we have allready seen. Nevertheless, i'm not missing a thing of it.  8)

Didn't really liked Buffy but loved The X-files. Unfortunatly it isn't on the telly here. Sounds promising though.  8)

Well, somebody said quite recently that long posts are cool, but here's where it ends for now.
