If you had listened to me, you would have realised that five years ago, Teunis ;)

They are really super, aint they *horns*

Just avoid the album Show Me How To Live, quite a letdown :(

All the albums from Paradox (nb 4, with DC) to X are superb. My fave is "Collision Course... Paradox 2".

I've seen'm live twice, lately just a few months ago (as I wrote at the time in the Room), both times in Amager Bio in Cop. DC is a fabulous singer and performer. Sadly there were only some 200 guests. He deserves a much bigger and more active audience. But the serious rock scene in Denmark is unfortunately much smaller than in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

NP  Kvelertak:  Nattesferd *horns*

Much better than I expected. Saw'm live at Copenhell some years ago, where it didn't click for me.

But then I heard a song from Nattesferd, which whetted my appetite (for destruction), and I'm really happy that I got the cd.

They sing in Norwegian. It's amusing to read the Amazon reviews, where the reviewers are guessing out of the blue about what Kvelertak are singing about. Actually the lyrics are very profound, mythological, about the deep themes of life. Surprisingly the music is quite upbeat, rather classic rock and metal, with shouted vocals, but with enuff twists and turns to keep one fastened. Super, really good 8)

Finally, I see someone else besides me who likes this album! It's completely instrumental, but somehow it manages to hold my attention. Love it!

Another very nice album indeed. There are at least one or two gems on this one.

And now I know what to play next:
Roine Stolt's "Hydrophonia"
Spock's Beard's "Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep"

Yeah, Kvelertak have become quite big. They have the energy of metal that (many) people like, and since they sing in Norwegian, they don't make one (i.e. non-Scandinavians) think deeply about life ;)

So much wonderful melody and atmosphere on this one - mmmmm 8)

Yeah, I remember some five years ago when I was looking for YouTubes with RH that there were surprisingly few.

You'll have to go by songs, Teunis.

But get Collision Course. It'll afford you many hours of enjoyment. And then get the neighboring albums.

When DC returned to RH the group got itself one of the best singers in the World, but strangely Maestro André lost - or waived - a lot of his prog cutting edge - a bit like with Ten after Chris Francis' term, but obviously for a different reason. It makes sense to compare these two groups ;)

Yeah, that's my take on Katatonia too. Some years ago I bought three consecutive K-albums, but after a few plays, I simply lost interest. It's not a group that I follow any longer :-\

A mixed pot, but some real wonderful songs on this one. The title song brought tears in my eyes, it's so wistful, and Olivia sings it so beautifully.

When one reaches my age, and still is active, one tends to forget one's youth. Jeff brought all that back :)

Big Big Train - Folklore.  A particularly strong release, methinks, even though this is only the third time I've played it.  I had to Google "Telling The Bees" as it's not a custom I've come across before.  Educational, this prog lark...

Frost* - "Falling Satellites"

:o :o :o
Could this be the album of the year???

This is "Milliontown" 2.0. It's how "Experiments In Mass Appeal" should have been. Actually, it's like a perfect mix of Milliontown and EIMA.
I was a bit disappointed with EIMA, but now Frost is back with probably their best album.
Not even finished my first listen, but boy this is what I expect from Frost!

I like EIMA very much, though the music is somewhat more industrial-orientated, by the lack of a better word.
A bit less neo-prog.
I found it refreshing that Declan Burke was involved as the singer.
Am curious about the new album.

I also like "EIMA", but it was very different from "Milliontown" indeed. It seems that "Falling Satellites" is the missing link between these albums.

Just played:
Frost* - "Falling Satellites"
Very impressed. But I also realise that it's been eight years since their previous album. So of course I am happy with this album! Let's see whether I'm still enthusiastic about it at the end of the year. For now, it's number 1.

You can really tell which songs were written by both Jem and John, because there's definitely some Kino and Lonely Robot in it.
And there's some Frost in Lonely Robot as well.
Actually, it's quite fun to discover these things.

Still a great album, though it has been some time since I last played it.
The diversity is immens, and it's great to hear a melodic LaBrie instead of the Hetfield-LaBrie.

I have to say, that while I do like the album, I just hope they'll go back to normal album making again.
Actually, I would really like a "Train Of Thought" kind of album again. Their selftitled album was a big disappointment for me, and "A Dramatic Turn Of Events" was hit and miss. Even "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" didn't do it for me all the way.
