The Metal Gods have just released an album - literally: today, and for the first time in my life I have bought an album on its release day :)

NP  Judas Priest:  Redeemer Of Souls  (on heavy repeat)  *horns*

jp: Silhouette - Across The Rubicon

Nice, keyboard oriented neoprog from the Netherlands. Now it's time for somewhat heavier, yet melodic stuff:

Arena - The Seventh Degree Of Separation  *horns* 8)

I find it a great album, but I hope (like more here) that we'll hear more solos on the new album, both guitar and keyboard :).

Yes - "Fly From Here" (still awaiting "Heaven & Earth" although the reviews are not positive)

I just realised that this album is alright and a grower.
Still need to listen a bit more to it, but it already feels better to my ears than the first six (or so) listens. It doesn't have that instant replayabilty that I have with other Yes albums.
The Fly From Here suite is nice, but a bit too long. At first I found this 'epic' the best part of the album. But now I'm not so sure. When the reprise was playing I already felt bored for quite some time.
The rest of the songs are also nice. There's nothing great about it, but nothing bad either. The closing track is possibly the most Yes-sounding song on the album. And Hour Of Need is a nice feelgood song, I really like it.
Overall, this album is by far not the best Yes album. But it IS a good album and ten years after "Magnification" probably noone expected a Yes album at all.

So now we're waiting for "Heaven & Earth". I hope it is better than the critics want us to believe.

Well, at this point I'v only listened to it twice thru. It doesn't strike me as being revolutionary, like British Steel, Painkiller, Jugulator, and Nostradamus were, and still are tremendous classics; but it's very mature and elegant metal, still edgy, lots of melody, and both Glenn and rookie Richie Faulkner can wrap a solo around you so that you melt completely *horns*

But I'll get back with a report after some more listens, Funky :)

Gazpacho - Tick Tock (probably still my favourite Gazpacho album 8))

And that is the ONLY Gazpacho album that I do not have! :(
From the albums I do have, I play "Night" and "March Of Ghosts" the most.

At the moment I am listening to:
Blackfield - "Blackfield"
2. Blackfield

(Hehehe, I love typing that down!)

Man, I still remember hearing this album for the first time. I thought it was really great, and I had not even noticed that Steven Wilson was in it. His voice sounds so different on this album.
The second Blackfield album was also really good (perhaps even better than the first).
The third was destined to be the lesser of these three, but after a few years I must say that there are still a few songs that make this album worth buying.
The latest album however is really really bad. And I have not bought it yet. Dunno if I ever want to (perhaps when I find it for 3 euros or something...).

Anyone here who really likes the new album?

PH

JP
Yes - "Keys To Ascension" and "Keys To Ascension 2"
Just the studio songs ("Keystudio" right?)

I really like this. The two epics are decent and remind me strongly of classic Yes (1971-1977), which is a good thing!
It turns out I need a Rick Wakeman in my Yes to make it feel 'classic'. But I also like the 80s and 90s Yes. And "Relayer" had Patrick Moraz, but is still 'classic'.

NP
Vangelis - "Voices"

Really like this too. 8)

Yeah, 'Night' will be my second favourite with 'Demon' and 'March Of Ghosts' close behind.

It's not.
I've searched for it, the one I have is damaged and unplayeble unfortunately, but the only Tick Tock I find is the vinyl kind.
Nice, but I'd settle for a cd.

Oops, didn't realise that :-\. I've searched too, but it's indeed difficult to find. A few on Amazon.de but that's it.

Today:
Alan Parsons Project - Anthology
jp: Anathema - Distant Satellites
np: The Chant - New Haven (On Progstreaming.com. Sounds like a cross between Anathema and Antimatter, not bad at all.)

Yeah, I was hoping that they would release a new version like they did with "Night". The LP edition gave me hope that they would also reissue the cd version.

Just finished listening to Marillion's "Brave".
It made me think of Pink Floyd at times. Am I the only one? And I realised that "Marbles" does sound a bit like this album indeed.
Mark Kelly is all over the place and Rothery is rocking quite a bit at times.
Could this album be a grower after all?
