This will make Bupie happy, I know ;)

Reminds me of Blind Guardian, with some Brazilian folklore blended in 8)

Indeed Nicky. A great band, about to release a live DVD with Fabio Leone as a singer. Don't know what it will sound like but maybe the link you gave (can't reach YT from my computer at work) will provide an answer, if it is a recent rendition of the song ?

There are only few left, so you gotta be quick if ya wanit.

Rebirth was sub-pantheon imo, but with Holy Land, Angra goes straight to my pantheon list  8)

Thanx for your insistence, Bupie :)

Even you get things right occasionally ;D

You're welcome  ;)

Actually, I prefer Angels Cry to Holy Land ... but you can get both in the same package for a very decent price : http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/277-4417123-9320921?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=angra%20holy%20land%20angels

If I had to make a ranking of their studio albums, it would be :

1. Temple Of Shadows (absolute masterpiece, their proggiest, which is the reason why it is disliked by many metal fans)
2. Angels Cry (fresh and brilliant debut album)/Rebirth (oustanding first half, very good second half)
3. Fireworks (an underestimated album that rocks big time, produced by Chris Tsangarides who also produced, amongst others, an album called Painkiller)
4. Holy Land (the favorite of many fans, I find it very good but slighty inferior to the other Matos era albums. Great cover and artwork)
5. Aqua (their latest, a pleasant listen but with few highlights)
6. Aurora Consurgens (the only one that I find hard to get into. Lacks the great melodies of the other albums)

NP Angra - Angels Cry  8)

Despite the fact that Ricardo Confessori is presented as the drummer and has his picture in the booklet, he was not in the band by the time of the recording so they used Alex Holzwarth (of Sieges Even and now Rhapsody fame, amongst many other collaborations) as a session drummer. I guess this choice has something to do with the fact that the recording took place in Germany.

I like the original issues (gladly remastered), and I'v already ordered Holy Land. (It actually cost a bit more than the double release.)

OK, I'v encountered that phenomena a few times (e.g. Priest's Nostradamus & Van Halen III), and it usually means that it's an album to my taste, so Thanx for the useful info, Bupie  8)

3. Fireworks (an underestimated album that rocks big time, produced by Chris Tsangarides who also produced, amongst others, an album called Painkiller)

That's the one I'm planning to get next, as it's the one between the two I have.

Chris T produced several Priest albums, so he's my man :)

4. Holy Land (the favorite of many fans, I find it very good but slighty inferior to the other Matos era albums. Great cover and artwork)

Oh, man, I'm playing it all the time  *horns*

Note also Andre Matos' sensitive piano playing  8)

The wonderful Silence And Distance already made it into my Classic song list :)

I'd like to get Paxi into it; think he'l like it ;)

Interesting that one of the songs is called The Shaman. Shaman was the name of Andre, Luís Mariutti (bass) and Ricardo Confessori's (drums) first post-Angra group.

Hum, I am not so sure, PH has a strong tendency to contrariness when the advice comes from you ;D  But yes, it should please any Roomie but those who could not stand Matos' voice.

Well, the first Shaman album, Ritual, is a very good place to start :)  Matos also contributed to Avantasia's The Metal Opera I & II, the Part I being my favorite speed metal album ever *horns*

NP Angra - Angels Cry
I am pretty sure that songs like Carry On or Angels Cry could reach your Classic list too ...

Right, Bupie, I could probably find some bullshit album and write that it's tame and soppy, and straightaway Paxi would tell us all that it's a prog masterpiece ;D

Otoh we're sharing Yes these days, so I gotta be a bit easy on him :D

I never thought that there could be any beef with his singing. It doesn't seem to be harsh in any way ???

Oh yes, I need to revisit that one. I've heard the album and thought it was really nice. I realised that Neal Morse was probably inspired a lot by Kansas.

Vintage DT. Mike Mangini was a great choice. This album sounds the way we know and love DT. I haven't yet identified the differences between Mike I and Mike II, just acknowledged that DT sound just right and are still the flagship of progrock  8)

Already got three pieces from the new album for my Classic song list :)

Well, I usually end up putting most DT-songs there ;)
