Well, why don't you put on their latest cd then? I mean, you DID get their new album, right? :o

Uhm.... I don't think it's necessary to have this album twice.....
I have it in pre-order! So I'll just have to wait a bit longer... :'(

maddox

I still don't have the album.
I also have it on pre-order, ordered it at Beyond-Rock (after the captivating advice by mr. Teunis ;)).

I heard some good things about it but also, as always, also some pretty negative things.

Time will tell who's right on this one.

NP - Arena - The one that arrived Thursday morning and has been on almost continuously since :)

Best Arena album yet, a masterwork. Never thought they could possibly top Contagion but they have!! I think a big part of it is the vocals, not that I have any kind of problem with Rob's voice I just think Paul is a better fit for the direction this album has taken.

Np Arena - Seventh Degree, on repeat

It's addictive and it's brilliant. For me Contagion is virtually impossible to beat, but I do think this third concept album will be joining ranks with Contagion and The Visitor in my Arena top three.

Italian prog, very interesting though the words are obviously in Italian.
A bit church-like spoken/sung, maybe somewhat musical-ish.

Italian prog is usually filled with lots of variations in its music.
I discovered this thanks to the band Pandora, though Labirinto is the second Italian prog cd I own.

Discovered this via a game at the Progwereld forum.
There you have to come up with ten different songs, a mix-tape, and people can rate that tape, song by song.
The best song gets 4 points, the second best 3 points etc etc and everything below 1 gets ... nothing. ;)

One of the members had this on his tape and I really like the song he had of them on his tape, Bergslagen.
Post-rock it seems.

NP Arena - Seventh Degree, on repeat

I'm hooked.

Just like Contagion it's a set of concise songs, excluding Catching The Bullet (7:42 with a quite long passage of instrumental fireworks), the songs range from 2:27 to 4:37. Whereas The Visitor and Contagion had several, no pure instrumentals this time although The Ghost Walks comes close. And Tinder Box is a rather different closing track than The Visitor and Ascension. So a fresh new approach in many ways. Clive remarked when we spoke at the gig that it's the most focused set of songs they've done and I tend to agree. It all sounds very natural and well flowing, lots going on but more subtle than on previous albums. Production is top notch, a very big and powerful yet open and transparent sound.

It's a nice sounding language, when spoken without or with little dialect. Try e.g. to see a Bergman film  8)

Took time with me, and there are still many of their songs that sound bland, but Eddie always sounds great, and now there are several songs that really get me rockin  *horns*

NP  Metallica:  Load & ReLoad

I actually quite like'm now, restrained, but quite a lot goin on within the set limits. It appears to me that Hetfield wanted to find and try out his American roots with these two albums  8)

I'm working my way backwards with Metallica  :)

NP Myrath - Tales Of The Sands

Archetypal "easy-listening" power prog metal with a strong arabic flavour. A mix of Kamelot and Symphony X. Most of the songs really remind me of Kamelot's The Great Pandemonium. Any of them would fit perfectly for the soundtrack of a The Kingdom-like movie.

I think it will grow on me but so far I am less enthusiastic than the rest of the world (wide web). But I am not in a metal mood either so ...
