I've been at the SG forum, yes. I'll drop by there now, and see if any of you are... have been... there.

But I'm in the mood for some heavy stuff right now, so np:
Redemption - Snowfall On Judgment Day

And I'l need another gin and teunic to sink that - now I have a good excuse  ;D

JP  Spock's Beard: SB

Man, this is great stuff, so much melody and creativity  *horns*

NP   Neal Morse: Sola Scriptura

OK, the guy has a real expressive voice, sings nicely, and makes you think about some important matters like God, but the music  :-\

I mean, all this hammond stuff, yeah, it works well at Jesus-meetings, but it don't really grip me  :(

Paul Gilbert does some heavy stuff tho - gotta get some more of his goods .....

Was Playing.  A Lot: Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon

Truly splendid.  I just impoverished myself further on Amazon, and this is partly to blame.  I even ordered a book (which used to be all I ordered from them before I encountered you folks).

NP: morow.com
I think it's time to ask for a Pain of Salvation album recommendation.

Also, Dream Theater's obsessive topic (as with ashes and trains for Steven Wilson) has been revealed to me: nightmares.  Given their name, appropriate, I guess.

I like Q even more, and this album is one of their best imo  *horns*

JP  DeadSoul Tribe: The Dead Word

One of my pantheon groups  :)

But his one puzzled me rather. DST's A Murder Of Crows is one of my fave albums. Word is surprisingly different, lighter, more acoustic. But of course I'l be playing it more.

NP  DeadSoul Tribe: Dead Soul Tribe

This one is more like Murder and is  *horns*

Guys, it's not me botchin up; they seem to have fun counfoundin people with their name  ::)

It is also their/his best effort.
The other albums are more 'the same'.

Which doesn't have to be a bad thing though.
You know what you'll get.

NP  Ten:  Babylon

I have somethin with dystopiae  ???

Also about a computer ace, except here it's - not surprising, considering it's Gary Hughes - about luuuv, real spiritocarnal love between a man and a woeman.

JP  Psychotic Waltz: Bleeding & Mosquito

Their two last studio albums (outta four). Quite nice, but nothing compared to DeadSoul Tribe imo. Bit too smooth, and Buddy aka Devon's expressive singing is mixed too far back - that was standard in those early thrash days.

JP  Jeff Loomis: Zero Order Phase

NP  SyX: The Odyssey (on repeat)

Both monsters  *horns* *horns* *horns*

I simply can't understand how I can be the only member of a progforum who listens to such a groundbreaking album like ZOP  ???

Mosquito, I didn't appreciate fully to begin with, not because it was too smooth, but because it was too rough... :D

Bleeding, however, is one of those ultra-superb albums, chock full of wonderful songs and lyrics. A perfect ten. Of course, DST never came close... ;D

Speaking just for myself, I've already broken a lot of new ground (for me at least) lately, and if I break too much at once, I'm likely to fall in.    ;D   There are still lots of things roomies have recommended that I haven't gotten to yet, but that doesn't mean I never will.  I'm already spending an irresponsible amount on new CDs as it is.   :P  My current obsession is Phideaux, which just blows my mind.

NP: Abigail's Ghost - Selling Insincerity

You might like this one, Nicky.  It kicks a fair amount of tush in a Porcupine Tree sort of way.  They've been criticized in some reviews for being too much like PT, in fact, although I think they're enough their own band that it doesn't bother me.

I wasnt thinkin of you, Greenie: ZOP is pretty harsh; you can wait a while with it.

But Roomies who can tackle Nevermore and DT's Train Of Thought, should get ZOP. It's simply otherworldly; it easily beats all the other progmetal guitar albums I'v heard  *horns*

- and tellya, I'v heard quite a number  ;)

NP: Abigail's Ghost - Selling Insincerity

You might like this one, Nicky.

I have already played it several times on MySpace, and I do enjoy it immensely   *horns*

And I have commented on it several times in the Room (but I guess manatee brains are rather marinated)  ;D

In fact, I have both Abigail and Phideaux on my shopping list, and I'm very much looking forward to having their cd's. My problem is los monetos. I havent bought a cd for months now - and that's very unusual for me.

As they say in old-fashioned baseball lingo, "can't tell the players without a scorecard."  Well, it's good we both like that one.  BTW, I now have both AG albums, and so far I like Selling Insincerity a good deal more than the other one.

Next up: Anathema - A Natural Disaster

I am again late to the party on this one, but better late than never.
