I think that you mean ' the whole album is great'.  ;)
I'm afraid not  :D

np: Mangrove - Beyond Reality
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'
-------------------------------------------------------
Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

Just the answer i expected.  :P

NP> Spock's Beard ~ S/T
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Manatee

JP: Abigail's Ghost - d_letion

I'm getting to like this one better, but I think I sitll prefer their first one.

NP: Steve Hackett - The Tokyo Tapes

Superior album.  I think I like this version of Heat of the Moment better than Asia's.  It's more delicate and less overtly poppy.

Yes, that's a very moving version.  I think 'delicate' hits the nail right on the head.

... maybe they're a band you need to let marinate a bit.   ;)

Exactly !

I think the reason why DT has grabbed so many proggies is that Images and Words is so melodic and smooth. That album created their platform, and since they kept on making great albums, their fanbase just kept growing.

Altho SyX created similar and just as fascinating music, and the guys are just as excellent as the DT guys, they havent yet experienced the same breakthru. Fortunately that hasnt affected them: They also just keep on making mindblowing music. Probably their fanbase is big enuff now to feed the guys and their families and pay the mortgages, but not much more than that.

That's what we can use musicfora like the Room for:  To inform about the great groups, regardless of how well-known they are.

Another great group is Spock's Beard  *horns*

Let me add my mustard to the discussion here, as I know'm quite well now, and they'r one of my pantheon groups:  Musically I find the post-Neal albums much better; they simply rock more !

However, Neal 's singing does affect one; he has an extraordinary conviction and passion. And here and there you find some musical pearls. But by and large, recent SB grip me far more than Transatlantic and Neal's soloalbums.

So if ya like Transatlantic, I'd say you'r in for an even better musical ride with SB  *horns*

JJP: Transatlantic - SMPT:e

It occurs to me that the long songs on this are essentially Flower Beard, and I like them noodles or not.  Think I will take a punt on Space Revolver.

JP: Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon

Fantastic album!  I see more Phidaeux albums in my future.  *horns*

NP: Knight Area - Realm of Shadows

It's a great album, you'll dig it. Looking forward to seeing them live for the first time next month!

Muse - The Resistance

I'm reading a lot of conflicting reviews of this album, but it's my favourite Muse album  *horns* 8).

That's the spirit, Teunis. A bit of true art, there.

Myself, I'm loving my favourite drummer more and more:

I think I *love* Doomsday Afternoon.  There's something unique about it that strikes a good chord with me.  Unless someone has a better suggestion, I'll likely order Number Seven soon.

As to Knight Area, clearly a clerical error resulting in North America getting a shipment before it was properly covered wtih dust.   ;D   On first listen, I'd say it's good neo-prog.  It's described as "dark," and I suppose the subject matter is, but musically it actually sounds fairly upbeat overall -- more upbeat than any IQ album I can think of, for example.   That's neither good nor bad, though, I like their sound.  By the way, what's "knight area" supposed to mean?  Sounds like a parking lot reserved for the horses of knights.   ???

NP: Knight Area - Realm of Shadows

Phideaux already got their second spin.  Trying to listen more closely this time and pick up some subtleties I missed first time through.  Instrumentally, they do have parts that seem a bit Arena-esuqe or IQ-esque, about which I'll not complain.   ;)
