Was playing: a whole buncha R.E.M.
Now playing: Steely Dan - The Royal Scam

I actually got some of what currently passes for work for me done tonight.  Go me.

JP  Hurt:  Vol. 1

Now at last it occurred to me who they sound like, particularly the singing:  Live (the Pennsylvania group). However, I find Hurt more dynamic.

But I have to hear Live some more. Got three of their albums, which I'l be playin when I get home  8)

JPE  Corrosion Of Conformity:  Wiseblood

Excellent stuff too. As I mentioned earlier, reminds me a lot of Jimi Hendrix, but even grungier, and also anticipates/forebodes Down.

So for guys who want their b*s soaked in whisky, this is it  ;)

I haven't decided if I entirely like it yet.  I do like the John Mitchell rocker songs, but some of the others I'm withholding judgment on.

A few years ago, I played a lot of poker.  "Presto" is Texas Hold 'Em slang for a pair of 5's in the hole.

After which, I will do my best to fall unconscious for several hours.

Oh, and congrats on 5,ÖÖÖ, Steve.

I wonder who'll be next.

Steve Jones

Just: Camel - On the Road 1982
Now: Beardfish - Från En Plats Du Ej Kan Se

I thought the Beardfish album might be somehow inferior, being their first album and having a lot of Swedish lyrics, but it's particularly excellent.  True, it's not quite up to the standard of either SiT part, but it's leagues ahead of many bands' best work.  So come on, Amazon, where's my copy of the new album? ;)

After all this talk about it yesterday I felt I just had to play it again. It's still very good! 8)

I guess we were both a bit mistaken, Iggy.

Here is the Jon & Vangelis discography (Wiki, Jon & Vangelis):

Original albums:

Short Stories (1980)
The Friends of Mr. Cairo (1981)
Private Collection (1983)
Page of Life (1991)
Page of Life (1998 - re-release with different tracks of which Vangelis did not approve)

Collections:

The Best of Jon & Vangelis (1984)
Chronicles (1994)

I didnt find much to enjoy on Short Stories, but the other three studio albums are wonderful  *horns*

Nicky.

Good grief I had forgotten all about Short Stories and have never owned it as my brother bought it.

NP: Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition (Live in Amsterdam bonus DVD)

Out of curiosity, I started with the live DVD.  These guys are impressive live!  A question for those of you who buy music DVDs (I've never bought one and only have the ones that came as bonus discs to the new IQ and Riverside):
Is there a way to save the audio portion, so you can play it on an MP3 player, iTunes, etc.?  It's fun to actually watch the concert a couple times, but there will be times when I'll want to listen to the live recording while doing something else.

Thanks.

I've also wanted to know! Porcupine Tree's DVD "Arriving Somewhere..." is most excellent! And I want to make MP3's out of it.
