You choose. ;)

I was (again) wondering:

I wasn't really for a while there, but I appear to be back, although I think I could use a vacation from being inside my head.   :-\

That had occurred to me too.  I don't suppose they sell the no-vocals disc by itself?

NP  Aghora:  Self-titled  (their first, on repeat)

I can't believe that I'm the only Roomie listening to this band  :o

Guys, tellya, this is some of the best prog around  *horns*

It's difficult alright, but not more than Nevermore, or for that matter DT when they let it all hang out; so if you can tackle these other two, you'r prepared for Aghora.

The first runs will confound you, but after a while it'l be like cruisin (or bein spirited away by SCM's)  :)

+ Santiago Dobles is up there with Jeff & John. Killer riffs !!!

+ The lyrics are tremendous.

+ Some of the best rock vocals by a female lead singer that I'v heard  8)

"Moving through the ageless void
Confirmed by our ignorance
Why can't we absolve our fears?
To let go and embrace our own beings.

Truth reveals nothing more but self
Killing all subjective holiness
Racing time ascension will take place
Granting fruits for actions made.

To reveal the secrets
we must invoke the seeds within
conquering all our battles lifting the
awareness in man."

- Aghora: Satya (track 2 on self-titled album)

Hey guys  ;)

Played earlier:

Enslaved:  Heir To The Cosmic Seed  (on Ruun, on repeat)

Killer song, whooee  *horns*

Big Brother & THC:  Cheap Thrills

Still sounds great  *horns*

It was a bomb back in 1968. My bro and I played it over and over. Today it's a classic  8)

And Robert Crumb's cover still kicks ass !

E.g. play this :

NP  Jeff Loomis:  Zero Order Phase

Awesome, overwhelming, monumental !  The ultimate progmetal guitar album (as yet)  *horns* *horns* *horns*

The supreme wet dream for guitar enthusiasts, with the suc/incubi pourin down on ya.

Highlights are Jato Unit and Cashmere Shiv.

But there's hardly a dull moment. The only respite is the quiet between tracks.

It reminds me most of Steve Vai's Alien Love Secrets, but upgraded a step or two from that.

And Mad, there's no singing.

Also Stephanie Cabral's graphics are striking  8)

Hey Tom, what the f* are you doin here readin this ?  Getout and getit ... and playit ... and don't break the oath: Crank up the volume !

Wiki - Zero Order Phase:  "Ogle of Blabbermouth.net pointed the album as 'one goddamned fiery tribute to the instrumental shred lords that have inspired his [Jeff Loomis] playing'."

Not for wimps tho  ;)

NP: Joe Jackson - Live 1980/86

That should be bait for at least one other person to make an appearance.  ;)

Right off the bat, I noticed a lyric that reminded me of something that always puzzled me a bit: seems like English bands make an awful lot of references to things that are specific to the U.S.  -- dollars get mentioned as often as pounds.  In this case, Joe refers to a white racist group that I'm fairly sure (and hope) only exists over here.  The U.S. words for things are often used instead of the British (elevator rather than lift), etc.  Do you think they're intentionally playing to the larger U.S. market, or is the American flu so prevalent that you're all infected?  I actually enjoy hearing foreign (to me) references -- it gives some variety and maybe a bit of insight into another culture.

Is it a shredfest from beginning to end or is there some gentle playing as well? Not that I can't stand a shredfest, but I'm just asking... :P BTW, have you heard John Petrucci's 'Suspended Animation'? If not, you better make sure that you do because it's a pretty good progmetal guitar album as well...

Hey,  is there someone up there ?  ;D

Great album that I can't find on CD at a reasonable price, unfortunately. So I recently purchased the other double live album Joe Jackson At The BBC that covers the first four albums period and is a must-have for anyone interested in JJ  *horns*

PP Symphony X - The Odyssey It was my second listen of this one and I am not sure that I will find the bravery/time for a third one ...  :P

NP Thin Lizzy - Renegade This one has already received numerous airplays and will surely receive many others  8)

Actually, I got this one dead cheap from the mail-order CD club.  It has three different versions of "Is She Really Going Out With Him," which might be a tad excessive but is kind of funny.  I think the stuff I enjoy on it the most is the stuff from I'm the Man and also "Beat Crazy."

NP: King Crimson - Red

Also heard something interesting from Sylvan on morow.com.  May be time I checked them out seriously.

Just had a three hour conversation with a young lady who is about 20 years my junior.  Attempting to behave myself because I know no good can come of this.   :-\

Well, it wasn't so much that I was resisting getting there but that I just never did hear very much of them.

Paco tells me they have a rare other CD with live parts and some other bits, but there seems to be pretty much no hope of me acquiring it, so this is it.

Back to morow.com

Do the The Flower Kings have any songs that aren't over 20 minutes long?  This one ("Love is the Only Answer") seems fairly low on the noodle scale, but it's still awfully long for something that's not Supper's Ready.

I'm sorry to say they do, although it's not normally spoken of in polite society. This one is actually a compilation of shorter remixes and extracts as an introduction, presumably, for Ramones fans who expect the fade-out to start soon after the "1,2,3,4" call to arms.  Personally I think it's the least interesting thing they've ever done, nothing much seems to happen compared to the grown-up equivalents ;)

Sorry, Mr Iggy, I missed that first time around :-[  Excellent so far, although I've not had the chance to play it enough to fully appreciate it as yet.  Typical Beardfish, but I'm not into it as much as either 'Sleeping in Traffic' so far.  But give me time... 8)
