OK, you can't dance to it, so you're off the hook for now.  Thus far I'd say it (which is currently playing) and the album in general sound promising but way too subtle/complex to take in without multiple plays.  I felt that way about much of Afraid of Sunlight too and wound up liking the whole album, so no need to panic.   ;)
Good to hear that Manatee, both that you like AOS and that you're delving into Marbles now. Marbles will reveal its beauty as well with repeated listening. Especially Invisible Man is a track that really needs to sink in. Fantastic Place and Genie are tracks that have really crept under my skin. Neverland is one of my absolute favourite Marillion tracks.

Oddly enough, Invisible Man sounded good to me on the first play.  So did Ocean Cloud, which Steve will be relieved to hear since this will avert a war.  I'm sure there are hidden depths I've yet to discover though.

Btw, Erik, I agree with you about Red -- It's an astoundingly good album with the exception of 'Providence', which is pretty meh.

NP: King Crimson - Discipline

Media Alert:  I've listened to "The Count of Tuscany" by the DT that isn't Devin Townsend a few times now, and I think it's pretty great.  If the other songs are on par with that, I may just buy the bleedin' album.   :o

Yup, it's a grower.  I'm going to have to finish it tomorrow though because I'm about ready to pass out.

  ;)

And then get Nevermore's This Godless Endeavor. Terrific album too, aint it, Jonesy ?

Then J & I might consider including you in our OBPMC  ;D

NP  Marillion:  Misplaced Childhood

All four Fish-era studio albums are growing on me. At first I liked Childhood best. Now it's Clutching At Straws .....

I'l be listening a lot more to this group  *horns*

While Childhood holds a very high standard all the way thru, the only real SO-song imo is Blue Angel.

Straws has Warm Wet Circles and The Last Straw. Fugazi has Jigsaw  8)

Guess that my childhood was sufficiently misplaced to make me prefer Fish-era Marillion and Fish with friends to lounge Marillion  ;D

Thanks again for getting me back onto'm, Bups  :)

NP: Marillion - Marbles

"Lounge" Marillion according to Nicky, but I'd already bought most of the Seafood Marillion 20+ years before encountering you lot.  And if you value emotional singing, you can't ask for much more than Mr. H gives.  In any case, as I've said before, IMO the two versions of the group are so different as to be essentially entirely different bands, and now I'm learning to appreciate this one.

And who are we to argue.  You don't build a sizeable Ten/Gary Hughes collection without picking up a few pointers about 'lounge' along the way ;) ;D

NP  Gazpacho on MySpace

I agree with ya, guys:  This is great stuff  *horns*

Gotta get some of their albums asap.

I just don't know how tho. I don't have a credit card, and even the biggest cd-stores and libraries in Cop don't have any Gazpacho-albums. Shame (on them)  >:(

Pity too. This sort of music could attain quite a broad appeal (for prog standards iac) if it was promoted well. There's a bit of Muse, Pallas, and Sigur Ros over it  8)

And this is even a group from a fellow Scandinavian country  ???

How about "heavy lounge" - or "mahogany" ?  ;D

They do make it annoyingly hard to buy their music.  I really wanted to get Tick-Tock and Night on actual CDs, but I finally had to settle for Amazon downloads.   I think someone at one point said that Racket Records (home of lounge Marillion)  had some on their site, but I never located them there, plus I don't know if they have provisions for alternate forms of payment either.

Once upon a time they were in the 'Other Artists' section at http://www.marillion.com/racket/index.htm but they vanished when they sold them all.  This was annoying because the Gazpacho site still referred you to the Marillion site if you wanted the physical product!  Which is why I got the Amazon download in the end...

Ya seem to have gotten that entirely right, Jonesy. Now I'l explain to you what it means (it's Swedish): From A Place That You Cannot See (the o)  ;D

NP  Gazpacho on MySpace  (on repeat)

Very special and wonderful, now and then even a bit headbangin (with the angels above)  *horns*

I was surprised (read: shocked) to see that there was nothin by (the Norwegian) Gazpacho at Amazon.com, a site that has masses of niche albums  ???

However, they do have G-albums at Amazon.co.uk. As yet there are no Customer Reviews, so I suggest that you guys write some  ;)

Ya get a lotta surprises in progworld:  Amazon.de has 14 Customer Reviews for Tick Tock with titles like "a masterpiece in music!", "Ein neuer Stern geht auf....", and "Von Gemälden und Klang-Farben..." - http://www.amazon.de/Tick-Tock-Gazpacho/dp/B001S2CSWC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1248684808&sr=8-1

I guess one main reason is that they played at the Loreley recently  8)

If ya wanna dig some flamenco with yar (prospected) beloved one, there's an Andalusian Gazpacho that seems to do that sorta stuff. I can just see us all doin the flamenco in the Room - badadum, badadum  ;D
