Good you're convinced already about Marbles! The 2-disc version is indeed the one to go for. Afraid Of Sunlight is also still amongst my faves. Other H albums to try would be Brave, Happiness On The Road (which is available in shops as two 1 seperate cd's with all tracks and also or will also be available as a 2-disc, so no need to go to Racket for this one Wink ) and Seasons End. Which version of the Crash Course compilation do you have? Assuming it's the last edition:

Whatever is Wrong With You = Happiness On The Road disc 2
This Train is My Life = Happiness On The Road disc 1 and one of my all time fave tracks
Somewhere Else = Somewhere Else, one of the best tracks on that album, the album though good overall is not the best place to start
Neverland = Marbles disc 2 and one of my all time fave tracks
Fantastic Place  = Marbles disc 1 and one of my all time fave tracks
Estonia = This Strange Engine, a good but unbalanced album and not the best place to start. This is a track I find a bit dragging, the title track, Man of A Thousand Faces, One Fine Day and Accidental Man are much better. Hope For The Future should not have been relesead/recorded Undecided
Afraid of Sunlight
The Great Escape = Brave and my all time fave track

Yep, that's the version I have (just dl'ed it a few months ago).  As I said, I liked the two from Happiness Is the Road right away, and I already liked Afraid of Sunlight (having already purchased said album).  Of the others, none sound bad to me, and some have passages that grabbed me.  It's certainly possible that they'll get through to me more with further listens, which is one of the best aspects of prog -- there's enough going on that it sometimes takes several plays to see where it's going.  I love things that aren't easy but pay off in the end.

I've heard Brave mentioned several times as one of their better albums, and it well may be.  Unfortunately, the one song from it that I've heard (other than Great Escape which needs further study), I found rather annoying, so I'll probably have to become a total convert or hear several other good songs from it before I pick up that album.

Just: Devin Townsend - Ki
Now: Manning - Number Ten

These two are my 2009 favourites so far, methinks *horns*

Edit: Something has just clicked into place in my brain, a process that tends to be anything but swift these days.  Parts of DT's 'Quiet Riot' song sound remarkably familiar and it's been bugging me for weeks.  Suddenly it dawns on me - Slade's 'Cum on Feel The Noize' which was covered by Quiet Riot.  Now I'll have to listen to the song again to see if I can work out what's going on in Devin's head.  Well, somebody's got to be first... ;)

NP: Mastodon - Crack the Skye

Still sounds like prog metal with Ozzy singing, but that's ok with me.  I like Ozzy.   *horns*   Impressive intricate guitarwork.

Your fondness for the Devin album gives me a warm feeling in my thorax.  Ziltoidians call it "heartburn."  If you do figure out what's going on in Devin's head (and somehow survive the attempt), please don't tell Devin.  There's no telling what he might do if he knew what he was thinking.

Meanwhile, I'm still suffering through my North American penalty period and awaiting the release of Ki.   >:(   I'll be very displeased if it turns out you're all having a joke on me, and it turns out to sound like Journey.  I know, I know, "Oi! I quite like Journey."  Apologies, but I do not.
