Just: The Durutti Column - Our Lady of the Angels (Single)
Now: Dixie Dregs - What If

There can be few UK rock fans 'of a certain age' who don't know at least one track by Dixie Dregs.  'Take It Off The Top' was the awesome music used by Tommy Vance as the theme for his Friday Rock Show *horns*

NP  Queensrÿche:  I Will Remember  (on Rage, on repeat)

I simple can't get nuff of this wonderful song  8) *horns*

In my book, a leading candidate for "Best song eva" - together with Ten's Rome and CC's Steel Rain btw  ;)

The lyrics - in fact in all three cases - are of the type that you have to learn by heart before they start unfolding properly  :)

So you've come of age
And so you want to meet God
Sure you can

But I need to really dislike a cd to get rid of it so I think I will keep this one cause it seems to have a few good tracks.

Same here, Bups, if there's just one track I know I'l continue to enjoy listenin to, then I keep the cd.

But cd's by The Haunted, Isis, Lacuna Coil, The Gathering have all gone out. Nothin there for me  :-X

NP  Queensrÿche:  Rage For Order  *horns*

Maybe this is the album you should start with, Tom. (I know, you have OM I, but I mean seriously.) I think that Mad would agree. Several terrific songs on it - I Will Remember, I Dream In Infrared, London -  and pretty accessible  8)

Infrared is also very special, as I mentioned earlier; that's where Geoff's voice seems to take off, never heard anything like that anywhere else. I'd like to hear whether you guys also experience that  ;)  8)

The Promised Land and Q2k are for advanced Q-cogniscenti  :)

Queensrÿche-listening is not only a passion, it becomes an addiction  *horns*

Not sure what you're thinking of there, I'll need to check it out for myself.  But on a related note, one of my personal favourite Tate greats is on Mindcrime's 'Breaking the Silence' when his voice leaps for the heavens during "They told me to run, but just how far" *horns*

Just played it to refresh my memory as to what's going on.  I take it you're referring to the chorus where there are several Geoffs doing wondrous things?  Yes, that's pretty special. 8)

Geoff Tate is one of the greatest vocalists of all time, IMHO.  On the earlier albums his more youthful voice has more in common with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. If you've not already heard it, check out Rob's spine-tingling vocals on Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver from the Sad Wings of Destiny album.  That blew me away when I heard it at school and remains, to this day, one of my favourite vocal moments of all time.  Before they went ultra-metal, Priest were a force to be reckoned with and a blistering live band. *horns*

Black 'N Blue - Nasty Nasty.

Standard 1980s Hair Metal, but with some very catchy tunes.  Probably their best album, to my ears. *horns*

*Happens to also fit "how are you feeling right now" -- last night was poker night with the boys.  Guinness was involved.    *horns*

What are the colonies coming to, when a citizen can't be abroad at night for fear of being set upon by ruffians and footpads intent on plying him with beverages?

Actually, I was one of the pliers.

The Butterfly Man

NP: Dream Theater - Once In A Livetime

This album got a lot of criticism, mainly because of James LaBrie's performance (which, to be honest, isn't really that bad), but I see it as a great document that shows what DT was up to in 1998. :)
