Just checked up. From Wiki - GTR (band): "GTR's only studio album, a self-titled LP produced by Geoffrey Downes of Asia, released by Arista Records, went gold and spawned a hit single, When The Heart Rules The Mind, which stayed in the charts for 16 weeks. Another single, The Hunter, received some video coverage and modest airplay. While GTR's album was a chart success, it is highly debated with many fans of Genesis and Yes. Some fans claim it has rather substandard filler material and some criticism directed at Max Bacon's strident tenor. J.D. Considine's review of the album simply read, 'SHT.'. However, it has become somewhat of a cult classic among fans."

That's another one I have on vinyl.  As I recall, I really only liked one song on it (bought it based on who was in the band), so I never played it much.  I'll probably never replace that one -- too much good prog I don't have yet and better older stuff that I need to replace.

NP: Guadalcanal Diary - Flip-Flop

Haven't played this one in a while.  Not prog, clever pop (AOR, perhaps?)

I just can't stop playing it, it's great! :)

Mastodon is an American heavy-metal band that I used to dislike because of the screaming/grunting vocals. But last week I came across a review that described this album as 'epic progressive metal' so I decided to check it out. And now here I am, totally blown away!

You prog-metallers in the Room (you know who you are ;)) should really give it a try!

http://www.myspace.com/mastodon The first two tracks in the player are from this album.

Nah, there hasnt really been any that has gripped me since Twin Peaks. It seems to me to be an industry similar to the pop music industry: Just more of the same  :(

But maybe I'm becoming an old grunt.

But then again, there's a hell of a lotta music that gets me excited, and several great movies every year, and great visual art, so there sure are the bright sides too  *horns*

NP  Queensrÿche:  Q2k

I'v played this one a lot recently ... and ya know why guys: Simple, it's a heck of a terrific album  *horns*

The Right Side Of My Mind is a killer song. Right, Jonesy and Mad ?

Tom, it has a mood similar to the QOTSA albums. I'm just wondering: What's holding you back from gettin some Queensrÿche albums ?

Thanks for the Mastodon tip. I have all their other albums. Clearly gotta get Crack too  :)

I'm really liking these guys.  Now if we can just get Khan to yell "Eat your beets!" we'll really have something.   ;D

Nicky.

Devin yells it in his fantastic (and funny) song 'Earth Day' on the Terria album.  Later in the song, he also yells "Don't eat your beets!"   As it happens, I wouldn't go near a beet on a bet, although I'm on board with carrots and broccoli.
