They were certainly past their prime, and Genesis with horns is just *wrong*, but there are still some good songs there.  Keep it Dark and Dodo/Lurker are the highlights for me.   Interestingly, IQ managed to use horns without grating on me on Subterranea.  Different band though.

Have you tried Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Nick D'vigilio yet?

NP 1000 People - Blackfield Awesome track.

I have been fiddling with Genius on iTunes this evening to see if it works for me.

Indeed he did.

Weirdly enough I got a work colleague into Genesis via this album.

That's the guy from Spock's Beard who's neither named Morse nor Japanese, right?   I take it he recorded something along the lines of The Alto Sax Lies Down on Broadway?  Er no, haven't heard it.

Nor the bass player. (He's actually called Morse too, but they mixed his letters a bit.)

He is a ridiculously talented musician.

He supported IQ at the Xmas gig and played guitar mostly but used a wacky drum (one he sat on and played a bit like a bongo only different) and was so impressive I had to run out to buy his version of the Lamb.

Still "We Can't Dance"
6. Dreaming While You Sleep

An awesome song. The drum makes it feel like building towards an explosion, but it remains calm and containing this tension.
The lyrics are very emotional too.
One of Phil's "All (of) my life" songs.

I'll keep my ears open for it.

NP: Lacuna Coil - Karmacode

Beats me whether this would be considered prog metal or not (perhaps not), but they're a damned good band.  Also Cristina Scabbia should do the vocals on every album recorded by anyone.   *horns*

NP  Queensrÿche:  Hear In The Now Frontier  (on repeat)

Now I'm listening to it with headphones, which gives me the best experience  *horns*

"Would someone please let me know how we

Has the captain let go of the wheel ?  Or could we
please try to find a way to be a bit more kind ?

Not really fair to judge them based on a few partial songs ...

Very true  *horns*

Quote
... they're like Asia.

Very untrue  :(

It might be something of a proof that I can't stand Asia, while Ten are one my faves.

Quote
Unsurprisingly, it's a lot harder to websearch for something called 'Ten' and get what you meant than it is for 'Amaseffer'.

;D

Anyone know of some full songs hearable out there?  Maybe YouTube has something.

Nope  :(

That's cause the roomies (apart from me) have conspired to crush everything that has the least smell of Ten  ;D

No, I'm afraid that there aint much more than on their MySpace site. There are some songs on YouTube, but they're old and marred by the guys' poodle mats and other goofy stuff  :-\

Soooo hoooo ... How about acquiring The Twilight Chronicles, Manatee ?  I'm sure you'l like it.  I can tell you that I played it over 200 times during the summer of 2007, enjoying each single run (ask Ms 007 bout that, it was the summer's album)  *horns*

OK, call it AOR if we stretch the term. But then Caamora is AOR too. They're about equal on a prog scale. And they're also equal in terms of fabulous music, musicianship, poetry and philosophy  8)

Hey guys, are Tom and I the only roomies who are interested in lyrics (apart from Arena and DT)  :o

Depends what you mean with that.
I'm interested in lyrics as well, especially since i write lyrics for my own but i'm not interested in the Ten lyrics, simply because i don't know them. Still, after all those months.  ;)

Oh....

Dream Theater ~ In The Presence Of Enemies

Nicky should have some mercy on me anyway since I just ordered Ghost Opera ("The Second Coming" enhanced edition with a live second disc).

And get the wonderful live One Cold Winter's Night too  *horns*

Morning guys.  Yes, I should be asleep and probably will be shortly.

NP: Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine (which follow Devin's Infinity)

Earlier I sampled Demians (that MySpace page had full songs) and was quite impressed.  I think I'll be ordering yet another CD, wallet permitting.   *horns*   Looks like France has a legit contender in the prog race.

Funnily enough I originally bought it after doing exactly that.  Usually I steer clear of online samples as everything sounds insipid and puts me off, but the Demians ones actually did the job! 8)

Genesis - Duke
2. Duchess

(The song that started it all for me)

The first album (vinyl) I ever bought. I still see myself picking it on the shelf of the store (basing my choice upon the nice art cover and a review in the local newspaper). And Duchess is a great song with moving lyrics, Nick (but maybe not in your sphere of interest)

NP Kansas - Vinyl Confessions (may I confess that I played this one much more often than Duke ?  :-[)

Edit : I won't enter the Ten/Asia debate but you already know my thoughts about it ...  ;D
