I assume you know both Gary Moore and Phil Lynott. Gary once was a guitarist in Thin Lizzy.
This song Out In The Fields is recorded in 1983.
Lots of childhood memories rise when i hear this song. Everyone seemed to dislike the song except for me and a friend at school.

You can watch the song on Youtube.

Trust me, this song rocks!!!  *horns*

Checked ! I knew the song but hadn't heard it for at least 20 years ! Very good song. I saw that Sonata Arctica made a cover of it. Seems that Gary Moore inspires Finnish bands ...

NP - Nothing. Bupiegirl forbids both prog and hard rock when she is around  :P

How would you describe Beardfish Mad? I'm wondering if I should investigate them further.

Wow, I'm honored that I achieved that  ;D. It's my favourite Toto song, partly because of the lyrics, but the whole song rocks  8) *horns*.

Yeah, I'd be interested too  ;)

I was also wondering, with all this talk about work, is there nobody here who actually likes his/her job ?  I remember that Bluey said she liked her new job, and I got the impresssion that Appy liked his ... but they're gone with the wind on the wings of time .....  :)

Some might be frightened by the growl, but if you listen closely, there's really a lot of melody  ;)

How would you describe Beardfish Mad? I'm wondering if I should investigate them further.

How to describe them?

Beardfish has a weird 70's like sound, with a singer who sounds like Steve Winwood.
Sometimes the music almost touches the vast emptiness of The Mars Volta but where TMV is more like prog with lots of Steroids, Beardfish stays on the safe side of ADHD.

But while i not really like (understatement, trust me) TMV i really like Beardfish.
Lot's of funny tunes in it, listen to Cash flow for instance who has cheesy lyrics  ('Made love to a man...A Man, Duh (Amanda  ;D)).
They certainly know how to handle their instruments.

If you ask me, it is very worth to check Beardfish.
Every time you listen to a song of them you'll discover something new.

Highly recommended.

*Disclaimer: Hope it helps since i'm probably the worst review writer in history.  :-[ :-[ :-[ ;)

NP   Nothin, as I'm working on a song of my own, so I don't want anything else interfering. If it turns out well, I'l share it with you guys. It's about truth (not sex, if that's what you thought) .....

I'm very interested to hear your song, Nicky! Is it heavy? ;)

NP: Metallica - Cyanide

I also listened to Disillusion today on MySpace. Sounds very interesting, I definately need to give 'em a couple more listens!

Actually...

No. Well i know the name but not what they sound like.

When Polars was released i read in an interview that it had similarities with Meshuggah's Catch 33 which i really liked.
That's how i got into Textures. I must confess, i must be in the mood for it. It's really at the far edge of prog to me.

It's really really rough.

Even Axamenta has more prog in their music.

Actually not at all. I have a fine electric guitar and amp with a great sound (borrowed from Claus), and currently I'm mainly playing "my" guitar alone at home. I'v worked for a couple of months on my technique, which now is better than when I stopped 30 years ago. So I'm trying out riffs on the guitar, and walking around trying out melodies, and then seeing what words turn up to the melodies. I find that a natural way of composing. Altho I'm very wordy, as you guys probably have figured by now, I'm having the hardest time conjuring up good lyrics to my melodies.

Now a song is taking shape, and I have a quite groovy sounding instrumental passage for guitar and bass, and a melody in two parts that shifts between three singers - quite original, I find - and I'v come so far that I know it's gonna be about finding "truth" in various phases of life - I'v been thru some by now  :D

I'm gonna try it out with Claus on Wednesday .....

Tom, are you doing any composing ?
