Arena:  Smoke And Mirrors

This is a must for all Arena fans. Recorded on their 10-year Anniversary Tour in September 2005 at Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice. The guys are in great shape, and particularly John delivers some awesome guitar playing that should make the angels weep. It beats me that the guys have to go to Poland to record such a great show. What's the matter with people in our parts of the world ?  This is breathtaking music !!!


Korn:  Live At Hammerstein (2002)

Also a formidable video. From their Koast To Koast Tour. Korn are one of the best live bands on this planet. I can't remember having seen an audience so alive, but then again, it's NYC. Korn are a very special group, to say the least, their music can't be compared to any other group's, and it requires a lot of accommodation, but they sure rock bigtime. Jonathan is a stunning frontman. A lot of care has been put into the visuals, some of the most gripping I'v seen.


Alice In Chains:  Music Bank:  The Videos

A great video too. Includes some recordings from their early days. Wonderful, but also wistful, to see the guys young and spunky, and particularly Layne in such good shape. Their song videos are very special, shifting between extreme realism and surrealism. The music is of course - as only Alice can do it. A must for AIC fans.

Druid - Toward the Sun.

I liked this band in the 70s, although I never caught them live.  Good, mellow prog if not quite premier division stuff.  I bought the CDs in 1998 and still liked them.  But in the last couple of days I seem to have gotten into them big time, they seem to mean more to me than they used to.  Probably because of all the prog I've been listening to in the last couple of years
