Linkin Park:  Minutes To Midnight

After the severe battering of Nevermore, I need somethin more loungy  ;D

Great band, Linkin Park !  And they'v matured nicely:  more variation, melody, vivid lyrics, precise expression  :)

I'd say the LP catalog belongs in a proper prog collection  8)

You begin to realise that the American rockers are ahead of the game; in the States, a great band like LP get big (multiplatinum)  *horns*   in Denmark, it's still Madonna and Stones  :'(

Devin Townsend - Terria

Totally weird album, like it though!

Extreme - Rock Sausage, or whatever it's called!  ;D

Excellent album.  Not sure if it's quite up there with the mighty 'Waiting for the Punchline' but it's close.  A few more plays should give me a better perspective.

Superb live band, if anyone gets the chance to see 'em.  *horns*

NP  Linkin Park:  Minutes To Midnight

Surprisingly "mellow" for Linkin. Some of it sounds almost like Coldplay. Hey, I didnt say that  :o

Van der Graaf Generator – Real Time.

I love this, in fact I'd say it's my favourite out of the three recent releases.  I'm not saying this just because it largely consists of old material, but because it's a terrific performance by the band.  It has a life to it, a dynamic, a vibrancy which I personally found lacking in the 'Vital' live album thirty years before it.  Ironically, it sounds how I remember them in the seventies (rightly or wrongly) whereas 'Vital' doesn't and never did.

Nice one, lads. *horns*

Well i'm no expert when it comes to Devin-music but after one spin i can say that i like it to a certain extend.
Not overwhelming because i still think that the bloke is far beyond mad but just like Mike Patton he's unique. In every way.

It has been mentioned tonight in the Room but i was going to play it anyway:

Funny thing is, the first time i heard the album i heard an other voice than Roine and i kept on thinking: I know that voice! Where have i heard it before?  ???

It turned out to be Neal Morse.  ::)

Go figure.  :-[

The Butterfly Man

NP: Demians - Building An Empire

I already said this a couple of times but this album is soooooooooo damn great. I listened to it endlessly during my holidays and now I'm sure: To me it's easily one of the best albums of the last few years and the very best release of 2008 so far.

That's all for now. :D

Firewind:  Allegiance  *horns*

A mainly Greek heavy metal band led by the young acclaimed Greek guitarist Gus G., started 1998, now with 5 full studio albums. Allegiance is their fourth (2006).

Not so original, but they're sure adept. Sorta Metallica meets Circus Maximus, and here and there Gus delivers some fine Gilmour/Mitchell type playing.

Recommended for the pm roomies !

Devin Townsend:  Ocean Machine: Biomech

I'm enjoying it far more than I did a year ago.

Not so complex, more atmospheric, actually quite "oceanic".

What's Terria like, Mad ?

This sounds interesting (Amazon - Devin Townsend):

Devin plans to release a new solo album in late 2008. Devin has stated the following on his official forums regarding this new album:

"Yo... A hugely complicated, dynamic metal 'symphony' thing...mainly instrumental... (Except for the choir vocal type shit). 72 minutes long. I've already started it, and it's far over the top...the most complex thing to date. Tentative title: 2. (Ziltoid was 1)...whatever it's called, it's going to have a '2' in the upper right hand corner. Maybe by December? Seriously...FAR over the top...TONS of guitar...TONS of solos...TONS of layers, some Devlab / Hummer bits, some beauty, some hell...no breaks between songs...some super clean quiet bits... No Ziltoid wackiness... I see it as a real DIY honest, adult thing. I want to write symphonies, but I'm a metal head, so here we go. I find it really natural. Making music without touring IS a break as far as I'm concerned..."

Devin also stated this on his forums on Wednesday, April 30, 2008:

"I have songs... A Monday, Coast, Disruptr, The Way Home, Lady Helen, Synchronicity Freaks, Gato Negro, Demon League. Thinking very hard...The record may be called 'Ki' or 'Ki-Ra' It's very different and very special...very strange...very minimal...deeply satisfying and sometimes very heavy in a 'new' way...it may be too dark for some. I've worked on this record more than almost any record I've ever done next to Ocean Machine. Sometimes I think it's brilliant and sometimes it freaks me out. I have an ambient record in the works as well. (That one is a ways away though...). Konrad, who did the Hummer and Devlab art, is doing this layout and videos and he is doing an AMAZING job."

Got this album on my SL.

Great that you're backlogging, Paxi. There are a lot of treasures to be found in the rock classics, and JT are definitely among the greatest. TAAB was an important part of my upbringing (contributing to the positive side of my character, and not biographic in any way)  ;D

I otoh am romping in prog metal world. Man, there are sooooo many fabulous groups these days. Wish there were some more fans to support'm  :'(

Demians Building an empire.

See I'm still persevering. I think it has taken a while due to the first song and me listening to it at the wrong time i.e. when I can't give it my full attention still it is definitely growing on me. I guess I will have to burn it for the car.
