Never heard of this band. Can you describe and compare them, Steve ?   :)

Late 1970s prog 'supergroup', if you're comfortable with that term.  Featured various name players, although inexplicably not Ms Dion.  ;D

Rather than me waffling on, here's a couple of links to the albums on Amazon that should give you some background:
First album: UK
Second: Danger Money

NP   Brian May:  Back To The Light
Being a big Queen fan thru the ages, I just had to get this album.

I've not got 'Back to the Light' but, coincidentally, I was planning to give Queen/Queen II/Sheer Heart Attack a whirl in the next few days.  I do like a good dose of pre-stadium Queen now and then.  *horns*

NP   Brian May:  Back To The Light

Being a big Queen fan thru the ages, I just had to get this album.

What a gem !!!  And I'v only just started listening to it. The title song is a real killer, a true May piece, well thought thru and perfectly recorded and produced.

Freddie was The Voice, but I always liked Brian's music best. He was one of my great heros, and he has given me sooo much joi de vivre (just tryin to impress Bupsie here), also at times when I really missed it  :'( => :)

Céline Dion does all the singing on this album - no, just foolin, Steve  ;D   Brian himself does most of the singing, and here and there some of his friends chi(r)p in. Admittedly Brian doesnt have anything near the terrific vocal powers that Freddie had, but his voice is expressive, warm and genuine.

And there's of course some awesome guitar playing.

This album was a very personal offering by Brian. He writes a note about it in the cd booklet. He spent years preparing it, and released it in 1992. Of course, it's dedicated to Freddie (and to Brian's deceased father Harold, and Alfred Dobson (dunno)).

So guys, if you like songs like Brighton Rock (which totally swept me away in the mid-70's), Father To Son, and The Prophet's song, there's more of this wonderful stuff on Back To The Light.

Interesting (Wikipedia - Brian May):

"Brian has stated in interviews that he suffered from depression in the late 1980s, even to the point of contemplating suicide, and that drug use would have worsened any problems he faced."

Nicky.

Nicky, for once ... I totally agree with you!  :o

I'm completely floored. This is sooo good !!!

This is also back to "pre-stadium" Queen, brings forth the same pristine feelings I had when I first listened to Queen I-V back in the 70's, genuine rock at its best !

Considering how big Queen is, it's simply incomprehensible how little known Brian's solo stuff is. One would think that at least the true Queen fans .... Well, it's not the first time I'm wondering about humanity  ::)

Six years later (1998) he released Another World. Guess who put this on his SL ?   ;D

We're completely in line here, Steve:  Queen I-V are fabulous. Then their music degenerated into cabaret, stadium, disco and stuff. But even late Queen is far better than the slush that routinely pours out of our radios. And Made In Heaven was a return to the roots, a great album. Good that Freddie experienced that before his early death  :)

I don't think I know Diapers - were they a prog band?  ;) ;D

NP: Nightwish - Dark Passion Play, Orchestral Version.  Possibly the heaviest orchestration on a rock record I can call to mind, especially the opening of 'The Poet & the Pendulum'. Awesome.  Wagner with a bad hangover.  8) *horns*

Yaknow Bups, that's very un-French. In Denmark, we have the expression "pariserrøv", which is the opposite of the above.

Hey, now you guys are going off into a spin. I listened to her rendition of The Power Of Love, and I was duly impressed. Did you guys ever take the link to Youtube ?  Just cause she's a woman - comon, she can't help it, just like Bluey can't - hey, maybe I should stop here  :-X  ;D

She is neither cute nor sexy nor clever but she is extremely popular in France. Still, since I like you, Nicky, I have found the link to the only video where she really looks cute and sexy (plus, she was young by the time) singing a Meat Loaf-like song  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYhhxyp4d7I&feature=related

They'v dressed her up as Greta Garbo, dreamy-eyed and all ... but that's OK, as GG was Swedish (like all Gretas in Hollywood movies) and my lovely is Swedish ..... now what was I goin to say ?   ;D
