Uriah heep - "Abominog" is my favourite - and whilst "Waking The Sleeper" is pretty darn close, it doesn't surpass IMHO...on a par with "Return To Fantasy" perhaps...?

NP-> Coldplay - Viva La Vida...first listen, and I'm in BLOODY RAPTURE....I've always had a soft spot for well written / well produced alt.rock - but this is STAGGERING....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BTW...for all of you F1 Fans out there....here's a little rap n'link... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1-oLuLfXg9Q

A great opportunity for a really good N-N-N-N-Nineteen-styleé rap...

Yo...hey mutha-fucker...Lewis on a lap <grunt>
Safety car cum, strat-e-gy go crap <grunt>
FIA dig chick-a-tita's tied-up string <huh>...?
Head for lice an' bling an' ting an' check me one time...

...Kimi gone an' stopped and done a Full-On Dad...
Waitin' at a Red Light - that is really sad...
Bobby dun a Kimi and pulled a-longside...
Lewis didn't do dat and-rear-ended Kim...

..eee - way bad...

...break-it-on-down

Funk me up, Jazzerman... ;)

"Rap" is an original Gelert BTW...but you then you'd guessed that already...

Hmmm, great album, that, but one I've not played for ages - must dig it out over the weekend and rip it to mp3.  The new one has already got me dusting off the back-catalogue, especially 'Sonic Origami' which I was doing back-to-back comparisons with yesterday.  A much better album than I remembered it  *horns*

By chance, Coldplay have just come up on another forum, and, though it's cheesey to quote yourself, it'll save me some typing: "You'll probably think I've spent a good part of my life under a stone (in a non Jerry Hall kind of way) but I've never actually heard any Coldplay as far as I'm aware."  :o

NP: Dream Theater - Score.  One of my least fave DTs, I'm afraid.  It's still an excellent work, I hasten to add, just that I think most of the others are better still.  I'm enjoying it thoroughly, but I know if I play 'Octavarium' afterwards (which is highly likely!  8) ) I'll have more fun.  8)

Great to have you back, Gelert, and good to see that you still dig the exquisite  ;D

Stick around, man  :)

So now, where did we lose Paco ?

Man, it's a full-time job keeping together this bag of fleas  ::)

Smoke on the Yangtze, which is something I picked up on another forum.  At least I think it was another forum - I'll feel a bit of a wazzock if it turns out it was this one!  ;D

Dream Theater - Octavarium.  Pretty much as predicted  ;D

It's funny how you can associate certain albums with certain moments in your life. 2006 was a real Dream Theater year for me, I just couldn't stop playing them.  On one sweltering summer day I was travelling on one of the trans-pennine trains and listening to 'Octavarium'.  Outside, the grass was vivid green and the sky an intense blue.  Inside, the coach was air-conditioned cool and largely empty.  The scenery was superb and the music even better - one of those perfect moments in time.  Every time I listen to 'Octavarium' on a sunny day I'm transported back to that train journey.

I suppose it should have been 'Train of Thought' to be truly perfect, but what the heck... ;)

I'm watching video on Youtube. A friend told me "hey, take a look at it, it's great !".
So I watched, and I enjoyed ! It's a single boy playing the guitar and drums.
Here's a tribute to Jimi Hendrix : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=h-wdwpeK4ug&feature=related
There are many videos on his channel.

OMFG - I think that I've just an organism....

Simon Says - Tardigrade

Excuse my french, but this is the best fucking thing that I've heard in a VERY long while...

Check-out their http://www.myspace.com/simonsayssweden site...

This is "sex-without-the-mess" type-stuff...!

I read a review in "Classic Rock", where the reviewer said something along the lines of "why copy Marillion?"...so I checked them out, wondering which version of Mary Lion said reviewer was on about...

None of them - this is old skool Genesis / It Bites / Spock's Beard / Shadowland / A.C.T / Citizen Cain / Casino / Stackridge / etc...bloody WONDERFUL....!

I also hunted down their previous two CDs...
One is allegedly TOTALLY unavailable (Ceinwen - 1995), but I got a copy from http://www.themoor.se/MoorStore/
The other (Paradise Square - 2002) sells on Amazon @ £95.00 or eBay for $122...but I got a copy at http://progfactory.com/catalog/index.php?osCsid=e32diudgf33t0o7264jkfened7

...both for < €15 each...!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...!

And Tardigrade won't be leaving my CD Player for quite a while, I tell thee....

Am I to understand that everybody on this forum knows about this band - except me....  ???
I did a Forum search for "Simon Says" and only got references to Simon Phillips, and somebody else called Simon....Garfunkel I think it was...

...Or are we entering "thinly-veiled blonde" territory here...?  ;D

Third play-through...

Third organism...

At this rate, I'm gonna start a culture....

*edit* Wow - Beautiful New day - The keyboard line is quoting Rick's #wives - and then it strolls into full-on Mellontro + Moog...and then breaks-down into acoustic axe + vox....bugger....brilliant....totally humbled.....  :'(

Serious Mode:  I've never heard of them, but the scratchy, squidged-up samples on the site certainly sound encouraging.  I definitely fancy getting hold of a CD for a proper listen - I'm already of the opinion that Sweden is the rock'n'roll capital of the world these days.  :)

Serious Mode cancel: I think you'd better stop now.  Or at least change hands  ;)

I'm starting the weekend with:
Joe Satriani - Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock

On this album he's perhaps not pushing (shredding?) the envelope as much as in the past, but it's still an excellent piece of work.  I still haven't gotten around to watching the accompanying DVD...

NP  The Essential Simon & Garfunkel

Great purchase, two cd's with all the great songs, and some lesser ones live with some extra spunk. Great remastering. All for 120 SKR in Malmö Skivhandel.

Hearing Sounds Of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Water for the first time thru headphones was an awesome experience  *horns*

These guys sure know how to sing and harmonise, man !

Highly recommended for old S&G fans !
