Hey Marcello, I was referring to myself. If you look at my profile, you'l see that I'm young enough to be your grandmother  ;D

Dillinger are good, it's just that I prefered the collaborative stuff with Patton. He treats his voice as an instrument rather than just for singing words with all the throat hitting and vocalizations he uses.

OK, interesting, Marcello, a new aspect to me.

Glad to have met another weirdo who likes this sorta stuff. Even for proggies this is far out. For me CC and DEP are soul food  :)

NP  Cephalic Carnage: Ov Vicissitude  (on Xenosapien)

Pretty wild - and exciting  *horns*

Dokken - Erase the slate
Dokken - Long way home
Dreamtide - Here comes the flood
Dream Theater - When dream and day unite
Dream Theater - Images and words

Just a little section of adjacent albums from my "classics" shelf (more than two-three years, I believe).

I don't think I'll be listening to the magnificent IAW any more for about ten years, without putting up a fight to prevent it!!

Pendragon - The World
Mostly Autumn - For All We Shared

Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

NP  Dillinger:  Unretrofied  (on Miss Machine)

After nine tracks of banging around in all (im)possible ways, it's strangely a relief to get to this song, which I guess can be classified as kinda heavy industrial melodic rock. Getit guys ?  Found the video for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWtiGLRG1pU . Looks like our little lady from Milk Lizard is back here, Bups. I guess one of the Dillinger guys somehow managed to domesticate her  ;D

Lots of other weird things going on - but hey, what else can ya expect from Dillinger ?

Enjoy !

Nicky.

Guys, this is really nice music! :)
Very much Rush-alike of course. But then again, I only know Snakes And Arrows...

Sounds good!

Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick

Old but still great.
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

You only know Snakes and Arrows?!?! Amazing. And you have an amazing time ahead of you, checking out their vast back catalogue. You'll like some of it, hate some of it, go back later and find you like what you used to hate, and pretty soon you're digging it all! :D

Rush fans usually have their preferred decade or era. Mine is from 1980 - 1995 or thereabouts "Moving pictures" to "Counterparts", but "Snakes..." is a major step in the right direction. I did not enjoy "Vapor trails" (the previous one). No keyboards?!?!? -A crime, no less. >:(

Nicky007

Yeah, you're right there, Deenfan:  Rush are a band that grow real slowly, but once there, it's for life. Somehow there's something very genuine and true about them, hardwon friends for life.

I like the albums you mentioned, but I also like their early Zep-influenced period - and why ?  Easy: cause I'm a BIG Zep fan  8)

I am truly happy Zep happened. An avalanche of great bands got their inspiration from them, and I got mine from those bands again. Weirdly, not from the Zep's themselves.

But, respect is due!

Nicky007

Well, Deenfan, you're just those years younger than me. When I heard Zep 1 the first time around 1969, I knew that a new era had started in rock  *horns*

Black Bubblegum - Dillinger escape plan

This is the only track I've heard from their latest album, and I really like it!

Cheers for that youtube link to Unretrofied Nicky, I'm quite getting into this band  :D
What will I be, When Winter comes again, and were wrapped up in furs, and life has begun again

Deenfan

You're spot on, Nicky. I was 14 in 1986, and I heard "The final countdown" on Swedish radio... It was a moment I will never forget.

Why my friend managed to receive swedish radio, and I didn't is another thing... >:(

Actually, I have heard some bits of other Rush albums, but Geddy's voice isn't really that great on those. I think on the latest album (and his solo album) his voice matured or something. I heard "2112" and the music is ok, but his voice is so different from what it is now.

I still have to dig deeper into Rush. I know that. And eventually I will. 8)

I like the picture... :P
