Nice, very differing moods.

Ms and I got into a Marillion mood here.

Nicky.

Yeah, yesterday I played it three times.
It's a really good album.

As you're the specialist in wild goose chases, Appy, I didn't look too long for Ed Wabry and figured out that you meant Ed Warby  :D

I'd never heard of him before, but when I read that he played on The Human Equation, I realised what your connection is.

And the marshies obviously love him, as he's been voted "Best Hardrock/Metal Drummer of the Benelux" by the Dutch drummer magazine Slagwerkkrant.

OK, I'll play THE soon and see if I can share your enthusiasm.

This is really good, it fits well on my wish-list! 8)
I also played Maserati's album "Inventions For The New Season". (http://www.myspace.com/maseratirocks)
And I also really liked that one!

I'm certainly going to spend some money on that band!

Def Leppard - Hysteria

Sounds like quite standard classic rock to me, reminds me mainly of Aerosmith. Anything to get excited about, Mad?

NP  Ten:  The Essential Collection

OK, now that I'v listened to both Essential and The Twilight Chonicles over fifty times, I have to say that Twilight is a more "whole" album. All songs except the last (tenth) are killers. Essential is a more mixed bag. Songs like Through The Fire, Yesterday Lies In The Flames, The Name Of The Rose, and The Robe are killers (the latter two also lyrics-wise). But then there are some songs that are too fantasy-like for my taste, but who knows, maybe something for the youngies here.

So from now on my first recom is Twilight, but Essential is also one of my ten absfave albums, so sure worth gettin, guys  :) :) :)

Hmm, Wicky Nicky >:(  They sold about 18 millions Hysteria LP's, which doesn't prove anything but at least the fact that some people must have been excited about it (I have been, back in those days). And I do think that Animal or Pour some sugar on me are classic hard rock anthems. But each to his own ...

NP Marillion - Gazpacho That's good  8)

NP  In Flames:  Come Clarity

Now at the fifth listen it's beginning to sound a bit good. Not easy stuff for me. But I can hear that they're good at whatever they're doin  ;D

Is anybody here into this stuff?  :)

Well in my younger days ( ;D) i used to be very fond of them.
Despite the eighties-radio-scores they had they really rocked.  *horns* *horns* *horns*

And to me Hysteria is still a classic. There are some really great tracks on it.  8)

Genesis - Invisible Touch
3. Land Of Confusion

I still get the feeling to sing along. I really like both era's of Genesis. In fact I feel a top 5 list coming up!!

1. Selling England By The Pound
2. Wind And Wuthering
3. A Trick Of The Tail
4. Duke
5. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

No Invisible Touch in that list. ;D
But outside of this "favourite five" there's also the brilliant songs "Dodo/Lurker", "Home By The Sea/2nd Home By The Sea", "Domino", "Driving The Last Spike", "Fading Lights".

Now listening to:
Sigur Rós - Takk
3. Hoppipolla

I can't understand a word they say... But when you get rid of everything you ever know about music (and languages :D) and you listen to this one song you can only come to the conclusion that this song is beautiful!!

I noted that several Amazon reviewers consider Sunsets On Empire his best solo album. What do you guys think about that?

I am far for knowing all of his solo discography but, from what I know, Internal Exile is my favorite. But Sunsets is good too. About Thirteenth Star, I had three listens and more or less the same feeling that with the other LP's, which means it's all about hit and miss. Some good songs, some forgettable ... But I have the feeling that this one is a grower  :)

I have ordered Raingods and Field of Crows recently so I can dig further ...

NP Fish - Goldfish and Clowns from Sunsets. This one song is VERY good

I personally think that Sunsets and Vigil are his best work until now. You might be right when you say that Thirteenth Star is a grower but after several spins i have to say that it still doesn't click with me for almost the same reasons as you described, Bupie.
Thing that bothers me is that Fish' voice seems to deteriorate more and more as he grows older and older.  :-\
He definitely hasn't got the power in his voice any more. Just like he used to.

This is the first Fish album i've heard where i have this feeling. The others were good or exceptional. I really like Felini Days for instance and Fields Of Crows is good too.

But i'm not giving up though.  ;)
