Are you playing that album?  :o

Never thought you liked such heavy albums. Amazing.  :D
Well? Like it?  ;)
Well eh .... Yes and no. The heavier stuff lacks somewhat melody, so little enthusiasm from me. I do like the 'ballads' on this album though.
I do like heavy albums so now and then, as long as it is melodious. Like Ayreon's 'Flight of the Migrator', Star One, Shadow Gallery and what I played today:

Amaran's Plight - Voice in the light
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

Indeed. I saw them live at "La fête de l'humanité" (a big annual  feast organized by the French communist party) back in, hu, 1992 (?) and they were really good. Ray Davies is a great frontman.

This is much more to my taste than Kinks. DT (they even have initals that point upward) have a lot to offer. One can hope that they'll be a bit more sparing on the thrash and evolve their melody some more. That usually comes with age, as long as they stick together.

Kinks were always living in the shadows of Beatles and Who. Do they really have anything to offer beyond B & W?

NP  DT: Awake

This one simply becomes better and better (and more addictive)  *horns*

I have to agree with you eventually, Maddox ...... (not on your spelling though)  ;D

But at this point of DT's evolution it became clear that Kevin couldn't stay; you hear that particularly on the "appendix", Space-Dye Vest, which is basically Kevin's song. Jordan was a convincing improvement for DT.

I also experience that Jamie must have had a hard time vying with such powers as JP and MP. Fortunately he had the b* to hold out, because for me now DT simply wouldn't be DT without Jamie. (I agree with you there too, M).

Yep, he's a long way from the best singer about but he IS the best singer for DT

I thought that was Michael Jackson's song, Johnny.

Would Stranglers be a worthy addition to a prog collection?

Mmmmm....Check them out before committing any cash. ;) You will most likely love 'em or hate 'em! To start with i'd recommend Black & White (3rd Album) or Suite XVI, the latest one.

NP  DT: Lifting Shadows Off A Dream

Unbelievably good song  *horns*

I just noticed, on your flasher, Maddox, that it's the name of their biography.

I must have heard Awake twenty times the last few days. I simply can't get enough of it.

Also JP's wonderful slow-starting solo on Lie, oh man, where did he get it from?

Am curious what you think of the two pearls in the end. Scarred and Space Dye Vest are breathtaking.  *horns*

Just a humble opinion.  ;)

See, that's just the thing, Maddox: I don't find that SDV holds the standard. I actually skip it now and go to 6:00, sometimes jump out of that one too. The rest of Awake is sheer brilliance. Nothing longdrawn. I've rarely experienced that with (almost) a whole album.
