There is info on him HERE

OK, thanks, I read the article, but I was mainly interested in your interest  :)

> NP Mother Black Cap - In the Comfort of Your Own Home

This one is also new to me. John, you seem to be the archivist of the Room.

OK, here's my take on Milliontown at this point: I gave it two more spins, but it didn't really grip me. What I liked best was John's wonderful guitarplaying, but that just made me yearn even more for the real McCoy, you know what I mean. What I understand is that Jem did a lot of radio hits, and along the way he was cultivating his prog interest, then he got a gang of musicians together to make Milliontown (and probably paid them well). Well, that's fine, and he does show some talent, but you don't end up making a masterpiece that way; a masterpiece comes out of a loyal group of people having a high vision and working steadfastly toward it, trying out this and that, and reworking stuff, till you have: the sublime. This is the key to Arena's success (well, also some tremendous personal talent). So try it out anyone, I'll be there to give my applause.

After Frost* I picked up Spock's Beard, and this is an entirely different class. These guys have gone through the above, and they have arrived at a musical substance that guarantees success each time. Sheer brilliance!

NP  Spock's Beard:  self-titled  (the latest).

Prob my fave.

Def Leppard - Animal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djv5GJndscI&mode=related&search=

Sorry guys but it seems that I am on my way for a DefLep revival today ...

Nicky, I knew nothing about Jeff Wayne 'The person behind the music'. When W.O.T.W first came out (1978) it was concidered one of those albums that made the most of the stereo effect and so along with Dark side of the moon was concidered a good album to listen to after smoking certain herbal substances!

Mother Black Cap - Are a Prog Rock band from Great Yarmouth (20 miles from where I live) Who we go to see play quite a bit. They have thier first London Gig this Saturday supporting Darwin's Radio at The Peel in Kingston. Needless to say we are going down to support them!.

NP Screaming Trees - Sweet Oblivion - 04 - More or Less.
Follows yesterdays grunge discussions nicely!

Hey, Cap don't allow that here in the Room, John.

Anyway  NP  Spock's Beard (x2)

Third run, still tremendous (even without the CHS).  ;D

I think I'll join you there later today. Never got around to listening properly to ST. Mark Lanegan's great.

First see some of the 3-part Bergman documentary on Danish TV now, great stuff too.

Screaming Trees:  Sweet Oblivion.

Not impressed, Mark has a great voice and sings with lots of feeling, but the music is rather boring, like with Pearl Jam.

I got some later albums with Mark, I'll give'm a run.

Mark Lanegan Band:  Bubblegum.

Silly title, but don't be misled. A far more gripping album, Mark's matured a lot musically here, has proficient pals: Alain Johannes, Chris Goss, Polly Harvey, Josh Homme; many different moods, mainly slow, nice to relax with after a round of DT or SyX.

I follow you, Appie. Great stuff. Just playing their Myspace samples. Melodic, panoramic, well-played and -sung prog, with their own special sound.

Noted on shopping list.

The Norwegians are really excelling in prog.

You realise Nicky that we are honoured to have a member of Winterstrain on this very forum!

It was great as the album was coming together we were being fed loads of info and a few snippets of audio. All quite facinating.

I didn't know that, John. Who's that? Well, good, so my joy was spontaneous and not flattery.

It's Deenfan. And because he has over 10.000 post's on the Winterstrain forum, he doesn't ahve enough time to post here :P j/k, he's busy with the recording of the second album, and lot's of other stuff.

I did post a link to this topic though, to let him know you liked it :)

Ah, thanks, Appel!!!

I was thinking about this fine forum the other day, and I decided it was time to get back here and tell you all that I've S-T-I-L-L got "Opera Fanatica" playing on my mind, even after having put the album in shelvical hibernation for at least a tertial. "THE KIIIIING IIIIIS DEEEAAAD, SOO WOOOOORSHIIIIP MEEEEE...." -Absolutely fantastic!!!!

And after not getting on here, AGAIN, I'm provided with the best thing life has to offer in this century: A link!!!

And what I have read on here makes me warm inside. Thanks Nicky, John, and Eplemos. It is really great to get your kind of feedback. Especially when you're wondering whether you should go ahead and finish the second album or finish yourself off... ::)

I am glad to read that you find joy or whatever pleasure in our music. What I can promise is that it's 100% true and heartfelt. It's something we had to do, as I'm sure is the case with a lot of albums out there. I have been struggling with a health condition that means drumming (my trade) has gotten exceedingly painful for a very long time, but especially the last year or so. Capturing those perfect performances of Arctic Prog on an acoustic drum set without rehearsing or warming up first to save some agony is not very easily done. Hopeless, in fact, so I'm about to re-record the drums AGAIN. But enough about that. You'll be among the first to know when we have something to present. And all ARENA forumers will get a free and legal 320kbps mp3 of one song when we're finished. There will be a link here. I own all my own stuff, so I can make such decisions. I don't try to make a living, I just want to record and release all the songs I cannot help writing... ;)

Again, thanks, and you know where some of my inspiration comes from... :D I'll be a regular again when the house is finished and the album is finished!! 8)

Love Battery:  Dayglo.

Real authentic, dirty grunge, also melodic, close to AIC and Mudhoney, so abs recom for any AIC fan, John.

Hey, nice to see you back, PH. Missed you (and your craziness).  ;D

Hey Deenfan, great to hear from you in the far north. I have a "bonus son" in Umeå, so I know a bit of the jive. Do you have some icebears growling on your coming album?  ;D

Yeah, I really enjoyed the two full songs on your Myspace (the third seems to be some sort of stump). And you can be sure that we are many roomies here looking real forward to your coming album.

Sad to hear about your health problems. We'll send you and your band pals some good thoughts.

Good luck with everything re your new album. If you get to Cop, I'll be there at your concert, and in Amst our dear marsh monsters will be hoppin around to your music.
