John, how about this one (below)?

NP  Queens Of The Stone Age:  Era Vulgaris.

Very original. Kinda melodic grunge, a bit like Stone Temple Pilots and Scott Weiland solo. A slow but steady grower.

Nicky.

Answer one: Before Dream Theater was ehm...Dream Theater they called themselves Majesty. If you read that backwards you get: Ytsejam.  ;)

OK, Maddox, you knew more about it than I. Thanks for the extra info.

I take it that you and Tom are pleased with your memberships of VoicesUK.

Queensrÿche:  Promised Land.

Probably my fave Q-album.

Cap: "I like it a bit hard, melodious, it needs keyboards and the voice is probably the most important part." (on prog (not sex)).

Cap, Promised Land has all that + more.

Is it good, Bupie?

I would say it's my favorite IQ song, along with War Heroes (on the same album) but it's all personal

NP  3:  All That Remains.

Joey Eppard's singing reminded me of another singer, one who's voice I knew real well, and I was racking my brains to figure it out; now eventually it emerged: Bob Geldorf, the fabulous singer of Boomtown Rats (big group when I was young), better known for his great humanitarian work.

3 are on their way UP, for sure.

A song or band called 'Insomnia' would be apt at the moment, taking advantage of not sleeping by listining to a few tunes.

NP - Arena - Contagion.  Up to Salamander atm.

I know a film with that title.  ;)

Having troubles sleeping?  :-\

Jadis:  What Goes Around  (on Photoplay, hearing it on Myspace).

Great music, got it on repeat mode.

Jadis are one of the best (they also got people like Dave Gilmore, Mike Stern, David Bowie, Pendragon and Toto as friends).

Betcha, John, AIC is the coolest McCoy, although there are many great grunge bands that I like (near priority): Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Love Battery (whaddaya think of'm, John), and several others, and I find that Chris Cornell is still very true to his grunge roots - fabulous singer, just like Eddie Vedder.

My fave AIC is actually the Tripod album, the last studio album, it's as grungy as it gets. I must have heard Grind and Brush Away over 500 times.

Funny, that was the album that hooked me to grunge. I went to the Copenhagen main library, browsed through the "heavy metal" collection, and struck upon Tripod as one of the first. I had heard about AIC, not for the good, but I thought, what the heck, I got the time. The lady dealing out headphones got a strange look in her face when she saw the three-legged dog, but as I was quite longhaired, it made sense to her. As soon as I heard the first sounds from Tripod, and they sure are far out, I was hooked for life, went straight to the nearest large CD store and got the whole AIC caboodle. Has kept me high since.

NP  Contagion Max.

Probably will have it on repeat the rest of the day. Man!

Stone Temple Pilots, Great band and quite clever.
Pearl Jam, They just leave me cold, really can't see whats so good about them, do not like one bit.
Mudhoney, Soundgarden. Both really good, not heard too much of thier stuff but like what i've heard
Nirvana, Nevermind has to be one of the best albums from the whole genre, the rest of thier stuff i've struggled to like, odd good songs but on the whole quite average

Alice In Chains, Of course you know know I rate them in a different league to the rest of the above! My fave would be Jar Of Flies as it shows a totally different side to the band......Plat J.O. F, Then play Facelift and try to work out how the same band produced the two!

Just played - Boston - Third Stage

NP, ELP - Brain Salad Surgery - -05 - Karn Evil 9

Right, John, these guys were GENIUS.

Jerry Cantrell has put out two studio albums which are in the same top league as AIC, Degradation Trip and Boggy Depot, of course with Layne's fate in mind, real gripping stuff, a bit like Roger Waters paying tribute to Sid with Dark Side and Shine On.

NP  Still Contagion Max - and still   *horns*  - and always   *horns*

Nothing life threatening fortunately. I have a perforated ear drum, trouble is it keeps getting infected so i have to have it 'sucked out' every 2 weeks, but this week there was nothing to suck out so all i have to do now is apply an antibiotic spray twice a day.
