NP  Dark Tranquillity:  Fiction

Excellent, similar to Opeth, but not as great imm, doesnt have as much variation and melody.

NP Neil Young / Like A Hurricane, on the radio. Great song, which I got to know by Heather Nova's excellent cover version. The cover version has better vocals, but it doesn't have the great guitars of the original.

Indeed a classic track.

I bought Decade of the back of this one track.

He means he bought an album on the strength of this one song he's heard.

That is, unless he's a she. In which case nobody will ever understand anything.

I have just finished, since writing that, sending off all the songs that together will make up our upcoming album. They are now in cyberspace, on their way to mastering.

Osada Vida - Three Seats Behind a Triangle.

Omigawdthisisfreakinawesome!!!!!!  I can't imagine life without Osada Vida, even though it was only a week ago.  ;)

Buy this.  Buy 'The Body Parts Party'.  Do it now.  Don't stop for breakfast or even to take a sh*t, just buy them.  You owe it to yourselves!  ;D ;D ;D

Amasafeer - Slaves for Life.  Excellent stuff, in particular the sizzling guitar work on 'Wooden Staff'  *horns*

What with this and Osada Vida being new to me this week, I'm definitely in prog heaven.  8)  Could life get any better than this?  ;)

I actually have nothing by Neil Young in my collection, is on my 'have to check it out sometime' list. Recommendations?

NP  Galahad Empires never last.

This is really growing on me an excellent mix of music.
My first real acquaintance with Galahad (besides reviews I had read) was when I saw them live last year together with Caamora. Blew me away, very powerful, quite heavy yet very melodic and innovative use of synths. Bought Sleepers at the gig which is great (lousy production though), should get Empires as well.

NP  Magnum:  Storyteller

I'm beginning to quite enjoy this album. Thanks for pressing, Deenie  :)  and nice to know that there's some intelligence north of Copenhagen  ::)  ;D

There's something distinctly English about this music, old chaps, which I as a back-up Englishman appreciate. In fact, Magnum are from Birmingham, which is my hometown, if any  :-\

Twelfth Night - XII.

I'm trying not to play Osada Vida albums continually.  In an effort to de-fad my listening today I'm digging out some oldies.  8)

As a native of those parts myself, I've been fortunate enough to see Magnum a good number of times throughout their career - they always play a blinder  *horns*  But, whilst I accept that 'Storyteller' is a classic album and contains many of Magnum's classic tracks, I find I personally prefer versions to be found elsewhere. The double-live set 'The Last Dance' kicks serious bottom, for example, whilst 'Storyteller' always leaves me vaguely unsatisfied - sonically not musically.  Shades of Purple's Machine Head/Made in Japan here, perhaps?

On another note, Magnum seem to have a lot of war songs, almost one per album.  'Morts' is definitely my favourite, very emotional.  If it catches me in the right mood I can blub like a baby and don't care who knows it!  ;D

Top band.  Made in Birmingham.  *horns*

I don't own much Neal Young stuff.

I've got after the goldrush (cliched I know) and Live Rust.

Empires is the only Galahad I own but I am keen to get more Empires is a very good cd.

NP Beardfish Sleeping in traffic pt I

This is a very interesting CD I am waiting to find out but I think Mrs Iggy will only like parts of it.

It is interesting to see the dividing line between what people like listening to and what they won't.

E.g. She won't entertain the idea of Dragonforce but loves Dream Theater and Led Zepellin.

She absolutely couldn't abide Yes until I dragged her along to a concert which until Arena came along was her favourite concert.

So I wait with baited breath to see if it will be allowed in the car.

I hope it works out OK.  I'd hate to think of her walking everywhere.  ;)

NP  Ten :  Timeless  (on Babylon)

I have this song runnin round in my head the whole day while I'm clippin bushes.

It's basically a quite simple composition, but it has this Lydian tinge, which goes right to the core with me.

And then there's of course Gary's commanding singing.

As good as it is, I'd now like something else internally - so I gotta keep it on repeat for a while  ;D

"Timeless Inferno
Like the flames and acid rain of mortal sin
Timeless, Eternal
As the pain that carves its name upon my skin."

The mystique of Ten is really mysterious. Either you get it or not. I sure get it  *horns*
