Sylvan - Encounters.

Crikey O'Blimey!  First time I've heard this one.  I thought it might be a weaker offering as it's one of the band's earlier recordings, but it's awesome.  *horns*

Queens Of The Stone Age:  Rated R   *horns*

My first spin. Already sounds good. QOTSA keep high standards. Guess you have to be a grungie to like this sorta music. These guys are real freaked out, have songs with titles like Quick And To The Pointless. Tom, definitely something for you.

Only twice, Mad. Hey, have you contracted Appyitis ?  ;D

Only and merely twice?  :o

Oh then i'm on the safe side since three times is a charm.  ;D

Just finished listening to Tinyfish - 'Tinyfish'

I've only played it once so far, but already I like it a lot.  Guitar-based prog, but 'classic' prog as opposed to prog-metal.  Certainly well worthy of consideration if you're looking for new thrills.  8)

Hmm don't know what to make of that! ;)

I've been playing Era Vulgaris a lot lately and I like it a lot. So you think the next one on my list should be Rated R Nicky?

Couldnt say yet. I find R, Songs, Lullabies, and Era all super. So just get them all. The order is unimportant. And from what I'v read at Amazon, the self-titled debut is supposed to be just as excellent. These guys are musicians to their fingertips  *horns*

Viv Stanshall - Sir Henry at Rawlinson End.

For those not familiar, this is a spoken word outing from one of England's greatest and much-missed eccentrics.  I first heard the equally late John Peel broadcasting this in small, easily digested chunks back in the seventies and have had a taste for it ever since.  :)

The title track is soo brilliant!

I'm now listening to Edenbridge's "The Grand Design". Very interesting symphonic/gothic metal/rock.
It reminds me a lot of Threshold, thanks to the guitar. Of course this band is fronted by a female singer.
It's highly melodic and I've also listened to their new album "My Earth Dream" which is quite good too.

Just mown the lawn to the strains of:
Opeth - Still life
and
Blue Öyster Cult - Secret Treaties.

Yes, I know that in a perfect world all lawn-mowing would be done to Genesis 'I Know What I Like' but if I can barely hear Opeth over the noise of the mower then Genesis stand no chance.

I'm now resting my ears to Steve Hackett - Spectral Mornings.

NP  Thought Chamber:  Angular Perceptions   *horns* *horns* *horns*

One of the great prog masterpieces - on the heavy side. I know that Steve likes it, me too, and who else ?  Tom and Mad, definitely an album for you. Michael Harris has an unbelievable imagination, and he wields his guitar masterly. Ted Leonard from Enchant sings tremendously - never heard him so good. The three other guys are less known, but by no means lesser.

Difficult to compare, but Yngwie, SyX, Zero Hour come to mind.

Michael Harris has also released some exciting solo albums.
