Nicky, I see that you get interested in Blind Guardian. Good ... although Opera is my least liked of their "classics" : too many piles of everything crashing and burying the songs

As we say in French, ça me casse les oreilles. My advice is to go for their double CD Live (great !) and for their studio album from Tales... to Nightfall... although Twist... has its moments too.

Well, Bupie, somehow we manage to agree on groups, and disagree on their albums

I liked Imaginations a lot, but somehow there was something missing - just a bit - to make BG Pantheon - at the time.

With Opera - I just fell immediately for it

And particularly And Then There Was Silence - whew, what an epic !!!

But I'll definitely be listening a lot more to BG. That's what happens when groups become Pantheon

The transition album from Genesis to Trespass.

Tonight was the first time in my life that I actually listened to From Genesis to Revelation.
Quite enjoyable, despite what others might think of it.

There are some nice tunes on their debut album. Where The Sour Turns To Sweet or In The Wilderness for example. Silent Sun is not bad either. Actually most of the tracks are not 'bad', just crappy sound on all releases that I know of.
"Trespass" is a whole new level. A really good album!

Both very nice and radio friendly albums.
The first one is a bit less radio friendly because of the overtly christian lyrics.

I'm actually also thinking along those lines.
Transatlantic, A.C.T and IQ are also contenders though.
The rest of the releases that I bought this year are not quite close enough to the aforementioned (yet).
But there are still some releases that I look forward to: Threshold, Flying Colors, Lunatic Soul, Devin Townsend (Ziltoid). I also remember Kaipa saying they were recording for a 2014 release although there's almost no information to be found.
