Intriguing. Nice ideas, musically. The singer makes it unbearable, though. Let me look up what I last said about Angra :)

Later stuff (just listening to rebirth album) is not my style. Speed-metal or so.

Ayreon - The Theory Of Everything

Today I took the time to do "part 1" with headphones and booklet. Very interesting story, interesting music, great musicianship. Who asked if I also find the lyrics a bit too "cheesy"? Can't say that yet. But the again English is not my mother tongue and I'm no expert, so I might miss a few pieces of cheese :)

What doesn't please me so much yet, that, although I'm somewhat into prog, I actually like to have choruses or at least returning themes throughout an album from time to time. This album seems to not have that, intentionally if I get the interviews right.

Yeah, Bupie was also into problems with the singing. As to me, I like it a lot. Thanx for your honesty, Cap.

NP  Ayreon:  The Theory Of Everything  8)

Since you guys are talkin so much about it. First run. I liked the male singing in the first track a lot. Is that JB singing ?

This song is really great. And for some reason I have never heard it before, and it's three years old already!
I guess I need "The Philadelphia Experiment" now.

Iggy

Sean Filkins - War and Peace and other stories. I really love this CD.  *horns*

:o No, I have no problems with Matos' singing, I just wrote that it could be an issue for some people. But not me :) And my greatest regret is not to have seen Angra live ... because I did not know them yet when there were opportunities :P

NP  Subsignal:  Paraiso  &  Live in Mannheim  *horns*

Paraiso upholds their standards from Beautiful & Monstrous, and that's saying a lot 8)

I'd like to see the guys live. They seem real nice and talented :)

But they'r barely wikied, so they probably won't be coming to Copenhagen for a while. They'r not either the sorta band that would be invited to Copenhell :-\

Maybe we should get Arno to growl - huh, Teunis ;D

Subsignal - "Paraiso"

Very nice.
The song A Long Way Since The Earth Crashed (especially the chorus) really reminds me of Yes for some strange reason. Probably has something to do with the vocals. Nicky what do you think?

Yes, I know that feeling :) The first three songs are killers. I really dig the guitar intro of Petrified Eyes.

NP Pendragon - The Masquerade Overture On progstreamingclassic. Great album, that took some time to grow on me.

Bupie, I actually started listening to Angels Cry, but the first few minutes were too much power metal for me. I'm actually not much of a power metal guy, like I gave my three DragonForce albums away a while ago. I'm not either into so-called fantasy lyrics.

But I will return to it; after all Angra is now pantheon with me  ;)

Holy Land with it's nerve, melody, sweetness, great rhythms, and ample variation is very close to being the perfect album for me  *horns* *horns* *horns*

Here, guys, special for you: One of the most brilliant - and charming - guitarists in the World:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tOE1nOdHQU

Just for the totally ignorant: Rusty Cooley is the guitarist of Outworld. Outworld I is to my mind the pinnacle of metal  *horns*

Till now it's their only release. But we're all hoping ..... :-\

And Paxi, he's a person of deep faith :)

Secret: All the biggies are.

NP  Rusty Cooley: Self-titled

This is his first studio album, from 2003. Here you can hear a full-fledged guitarist, both technically and emotionally.

Here's a real nice piece from the album. It starts out easily, and then ... !!! Breathtaking  *horns*

Rusty Cooley:  Dark Matter   www.youtube.com/watch?v=s06h6UGD3GM

Listen to it with headphones ;)

Yes, I can hear Yes in this song - Rabin-era, I'd say. But, you know, Paxi, the whole album is pasted over with Yes, e.g. also A New Reliance, the beginning reminds me of Owner Of A Lonely Heart.

Paraiso has also been compared with Rush and Kansas. The first songs on the album also manifest great ambition, to be one of the major players in progrock. But then it loses grip, becomes extensively atmospheric - and balless. OK, The Blueprint Of A Winter is a dedication - Markus' to his wife - so let's let it be, but The Stillness Beneath The Snow and The Colossus That Bestrode the World are surprisingly unnervy. Or maybe I just miss more renewal along the way :-\

But sure, it's a great album  *horns*

Paxi, how about throwing in some links with some of your fave stuff that I don't know, like some good ones with Big Big Train. I'll play them - I try to follow up on everything that's thrown into the Room.

You'r the only one who plays my links - well OK, Cap too, when he occasionally turns up - so let's just keep it between us two :)

Since the beginning of (my) time (in the Room), Mad has promised and promised ... but .... :o

But I love you anyhows, Mad :-* :-* :-*

And if anyone else listens in secretly, noone will know ;)

And I just found my Holy Land cd in my mailbox, so guess what I'll be listening to now ;)
