Indeed, only complaint is the short 38 minutes playing time ;).

Looking forward to the new DVD: http://www.kscopemusic.com/anathema/  8)

JF Anathema - Judgment

Sorry but I am still not overwhelmed, this is just a pleasant listen but nothing too special for me. A bit like Muse, it suffers from the "have it heard billion times before" syndrom.

NP Pink Floyd - Ummagumma

Playing the live CD right now and I am afraid that I have been too perverted by Boston or Toto to enjoy this psychedelic experiment  :P

Yes - "Going For The One"
1. Going For The One

Jon sounds like he's in his teens or something, though in reality he's 32 years old here. It never really occurred to me what a fine voice he has. It really shows on this album. Nicky is right, this song is really catchy. It's funny that it starts with some kind of a surf guitar intro. Makes me feel as if I'm on a sunny holiday with a beach, palm trees and a drink.

The rest of the album yet needs to sink in, but it's certainly part of the classic Yes era. Good stuff.

PH

Yes - "Tales From Topographic Oceans"

Just finished this album. A really nice album. The Revealing Science Of God is clearly the best track, and The Ancient is really difficult to get into. But the rest is pretty good. This album is a modest masterpiece (yet still a bit pretentious), but not the best of Yes. Still think that's "Close To The Edge", followed by "Fragile".

Honestly I can't imagine a life without Yes now. *horns*

Transatlantic - "The Whirlwind"

Can't wait for the new album!!

It's just that I don't wanna waste my time with lesser music, when there's sooo much great music around, Bups  :)

Once you get your French a** around to listening to Outworld, ya'l know what I mean  ;)

You'r right about "psychedelic experiment", Bupie. Ummagumma sounds very outdated today. It's really only of interest to Floyd fans  :-\

Already the following album, Atom Heart Mother, has a lot more to offer musically  ;)

Of course, all the albums after that are pure pleasure  *horns*

Paxi, I left your entire text in the quote cuz I liked so much what you wrote  8)

When I heard the song "Going for the One" the first time, I thought: Amazing, unbelievable  *horns*

This album is also one of the top ten in my life. If I hadn't encountered it, I wouldn't have half the enthusiasm that I have for Yes since  ;)

Great, Paxi, but wait with your judgement till you'v got a bit more around in Yesworld: Musically they raised the bar with Going, much tighter, focused, and melodic. They basically kept that high standard since  *horns*

OK, with 90125, they were languishing, tired of not breaking thru properly. 90125 was definitely a breakthru popularly, but a sellout musically. Big Generator was "OK, let's leave it to Trevor", and a quite OK album  :-\

But with Talk, Trevor had obviously gone for a super album, and that's what they made  *horns*

Since then, they'v stayed there  8)

NP  Dire Straits:  On Every Street

Nice album, but nothing like their first album. That one was a revolution  *horns*

Up until now, I've never encountered a Yes album I don't like. 8) So I'm ready to try stuff like "Yes", "Time And A Word" and "Tormato". You'll hear from me!

I hope you don't misunderstand me, Bupie: I'm by no means saying that you listen to lesser music. You listen to a lotta great music: Dream Theater, Seventh Wonder, Arena, and more.

Then you got some groups that I don't listen much to, like Toto and IQ.

I was making a general statement: I have some 200 pantheon groups now, and I simply prefer to listen to them. Now and then I'l go off and test some other group, particularly if it's been recommended to me by somebody who knows my taste, or even if someone just asked me to listen to it.

So that's it, quite straightforward, I think  :)

NP  Outlaws on YouTube

Quite  8) as far as southern rock goes.

I was listening to Outworld - don't get much time for my music these days - and I thought that Outlaws sounds quite similar to Outworld, so ....  ;)

Frankly speaking it was my first introduction to this band, played it on Progstreaming classic. It's Italian prog and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

No problem Nicky. Anyway, you would be entitled to think/say that I listen to lesser music. We are free to express opinions here, it's quite the purpose.

But I would be free to disagree too  :)  And to be honest, not being a musician myself nor having definite opinions on many subjects (music included), I would be embarrassed  to define "lesser music". As far as I am concerned, I know four types of music : the music that I love, the music that I like, the music that I don't like and the music that I can't stand. When other people massively hate or despise the music that I put in my first type (e.g. IQ AYSC or Toto IV, to quote the two bands that you mentioned), it makes me perplexed and even sad or angry sometimes but it doesn't prevent me for go on enjoying the music. And whatever the song or album, I know that even in a tiny minority I am not alone  :)

I suggest that you read this Martin Orford's interview that sums up pretty well what I think : http://www.progressor.net/interview/martin_orford.html

Unfortunately, I lost the link to another interview where he told that music is aimed to entertain people and that many prog bands should keep that in mind. He told it with better words but I fully agree.

NP Starship - Love Among The Cannibals

That's pure pop/AOR of the most commercial vein. This band, one of the numerous avatars of Jefferson Airplane, is often mocked to have sold out and gone as far and low as possible from the initial project. But this album is a lot of fun to my ears, it entertains me (Wild Again, in particular, is a great AOR classic) when most Jefferson Airplane's stuff bores me to death. So, where is the truth ? And is there one ?  :)

Days Between Stations - In Extremis

The latter one for the third day in a row. Going to buy that one, I'm impressed. Bupie, it's on Progstreaming. I bet you'll like it. Especially track 7, keyboard parts at the end of the song .... IQ'ish; goosebumps! 8). Review on DPRP.

Yes, but in a respectful way. It would be disrespectful and reflect badly back on me if I made a general statement like that you listen to lesser music.

And it would be untrue. As you say, everybody is entitled to their own taste and opinions. And active Roomies have clearly been around  8)

Same here. Music I can't stand is fabricated music, i.e. music that just should fill out silence in some way, and manipulative music, music that should make us buy more needless shit.

Music I don't like is music somebody else likes, so I should mention it respectfully.

I like Toto and IQ, Bupie, but they'r not in my prog pantheon.

My pantheon is obviously the music I love.

By now, I don't really care what people think about "my music" - unless they have given some of it a proper listen, meaning that they'v spent more than a few minutes on it.

Of course, it's great to share, like we do in the Room  8)

That's maybe where I differ from most others: I like to be challenged thoroughly by music and have to work with it in order to be on par.
