I've seen someone comparing them to Kino. What do you think? I've also read that John Mitchell was involved (although not heavily).
I'll check out some YouTube videos. Maybe their 2013 album is a nice opportunity to become 'hooked'.
I think that Touchstone, Kino, It Bites or The Reasoning may appeal to a similar audience since they all belong to the "pop-prog" sub-genre. Touchstone and Kino share a knack for catchy and effective choruses but Touchstone has this strange mix of heavy riffs and quiet passages when Kino is more "conventional" apart from the outstanding Losers' day Parade. Which does not mean that I like Kino less.

@ Nicky (about your last Thursday's post) : thanks mate, you too get it right occasionnally ... but less often  ;D

Honestly, Paxi, I think I'm more adventurous than you guys. You seem to me to be listening to the same stuff over and over again. There's a lot of real exciting stuff goin on in progworld that goes unnoticed in the Room. I try to tip people, but to little avail  :-\

E.g. my new discovery Anthriel are really WOW

NP  Anthriel:  The Pathway  *horns*

But Nicky, you are indeed much more of a progger than we are. And I think I can say on behalf of all of us in the Shattered Room, that we are honoured by your presence.

Bupie

JF the same stuff over and over again but to be more specific DeeExpus - King Of Number 33 Possibly the best artwork of 2012 but I am still not fully convinced by the music, though I know it's a Room favorite.

NP as you might figure, the same stuff over and over again which is represented at the moment by Steve Lukather - Transition And I agree with you, Teunis  8)

PH

Nothing new here too:
Nolan & Wakeman - "Jabberwocky"

1999, people. Almost 14 years old this one. Man, am I boring.

A bit unusual for me  :D  but it was recommended to me by a friend who's life I had saved with Dream Theater - he freaked totally  *horns*

Yep, my album of the year 2012! But okay, tastes differ which leads/can lead to interesting discussions ;).

Playing it too right now, it even gets better and better  *horns* 8).

Earlier: Queen - Made in Heaven (from start to finish, by headphones and it really works :))
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

NP Big Big Train - English Electric Part One

This one finally clicked on a drive back home this Christmas when I played it twice in a row. It is the kind of music you have to focus on but it is rewarding. Too bad I can't get to the same result with DeeExpus so far.

Teunis, we really do share some music  8)

And then there's some that we don't. I think I have to send you to a growl/shout course  ;D

NP  Iron Butterfly:  Metamorphosis  (on repeat)

This album made a tremendous impression on me years back, and inspired me strongly in my guitar-playing. Still sounds great  *horns*

NP  Anthriel:  The Pathway

Typical: The reviewers are so eager to make their utter wisdom heard that they don't get past the first track, which is a SyX-like starter, before they go blurting out SyX clone and stuff. Sad, man ! The thing is that this album is full of all sorts of impressions from all over progworld: OK SyX, but also real engine-like metal ala Adagio, Finnish melodic tinkle metal ala Amorphis, flourished stuff ala SW, raw singing ala PM, intense compact like CM, organ & church emo like RH, etc. You wouldnt think that this is a debut, as fullsome mature it is. But in the last end, this album stands up for itself, as a proud monument to what may be best about our times: progrock  :)

Super album  *horns*

Why do so few people have the perseverance to really get into stuff properly - particularly if they'r to guide others  :'(
