Now I only played it once. It didnt invite to a second playing. Hm, most of all it reminded me of Vanden Plas (not so surprising), but not at all in league with Christ 0  ;)

Actually, that is surprising.

When I listen to one of their albums, Vanden Plas is not a name that springs to mind.

DT, SG, SW, maybe CM* maybe but other than that...

If you lot have problems using earplugs then I'd say that your using the wrong ones. ;)

Mine are industrial quality and it costs top dollar (actually, euro but what the heck...) but it's worth it.
I use it at work, and during concerts and there is no loss in quality of the music I can tell you. ;)
For those 1 or 2 gigs a year I attend, it's not worth the investment ::). And I'm always far away from the speakers!

np: Star One - Victims Of The Modern Age  *horns*

Alone at home, so now I can play an album my wife doesn't appreciate that much :).

Yeah, I remember hearing a crackling sound at a concert. It turns out, that's your eardrum. Nicky, earplugs aren't taking away the feel of a concert. It's much better for your ears! Take this from one who studied biology...

You guys miss the point  ::)

OK, let me try another comparison: It's like with c*nd*ms. It's not a question of using the right c*nd*m, it's the whole concept.

Or like takin a shower with a raincoat on. Tell me, Mad and Paxi, what's the best raincoat to wear when I take a shower ?

Or like warm beer:  Tell me guys, which is the best beer to warm up to 60° and drink ?

Man, I could continue ... but I think ya get the point  ;)

I need some good music now:

I think those are the wrong comparisons.

Better compare this with seat belts. Do you drive without them Nicky? Would you wear gloves if you'd be working with hazardous chemicals?

I think those are the wrong comparisons.

Let me put it plain to you, Paxi:  The reality is that when you go to metal concerts, apart from a few guests who have serious hearing problems, only pussies are wearing earplugs, you see it on'm, they'r not real metalheads  ;)

Here's some real metal for real metalheads:

Interesting:  Frontman, guitarist and songwriter Joe Duplantier talks about the meaning of the upcoming album by saying, "When you become a musician, you don't have a boss telling you what to do so you have to be very responsible."

He goes on to say "With freedom comes responsibility, so I'm asking myself, 'What is freedom? What does it mean to me?' L'Enfant Sauvage reflects on that. There's no answer though. There's just life and questions."

Wikipedia:  Storm Corrosion is a musical collaboration between Mikael Åkerfeldt, of Swedish heavy metal band Opeth and Steven Wilson, an English musician and frontman of band Porcupine Tree. The project's self-titled first studio album Storm Corrosion was released on May 7, 2012 through Roadrunner Records.

The album has been described by Wilson as being "the final part in the odd trilogy of records completed by (Opeth's) Heritage and Steven Wilson's brand new solo album Grace for Drowning."

Yes it is.

A bit different from what I was expecting. Steven Wilson never ceases to surprise.

It is indeed a very interesting project.
I've listened to this cd four times now, and it is indeed very different from Porcupine Tree and Opeth. But it wasn't entirely unexpected. Knowing both artists, I knew that it would sound a bit like this.
Like it very much. 8)

Gazpacho - March Of Ghosts
Galahad - Battle Scars
North Atlantic Oscillation - Fog Electric

The latter two on progstreaming.com. Those albums definitely won't make it to my cd collection ;).

Progstreaming does seem to be experiencing a dry spell lately.  A few months ago, I found several albums there that I liked very much.  Lately, there hasn't been much there that excites me.  Oh, well.  I've got a backlog of recently acquired albums that need some attention anyway.

Let me put it this way;

Would you like to hear something during a concert, or just noise? ;)

When I go to concerts I can hear the music a lot better with earplugs than without.
Compare it with looking under water.

Agreed. The last band I discovered was DeeExpus. Their album 'The King Of Number 33' is really 8). Recommended for people who like e.g. Seventh Wonder, Darkwater, Wolverine.

Just played this album, followed by the Jadis album 'More Than Meets The Eye'.

C'mon Maddox, don't be such a pussy. When I go to the sea, I'm not using goggles! You only get the real sea-feeling when you look under water with bare eyes. With goggles you're taking away a lot of the pleasure of looking under water.
It's like going to a concert with earplugs! Totally ridiculous man!

Well, I did get some sleep, although I ended up listening to half of Ziltoid too before I went to bed.  Spent the afternoon in and out of traffic, so I'm not quite refreshed, but that did give me the opportunity to listen to:

Discipline. - Unfolded Like Staircase
Discipline. - To Shatter All Accord

Unfolded is really clicking for me now.  I've come to think they're probably influenced by both very old Genesis (Foxtrot era) and Van der Graaf Generator.  Definitely music that reveals itself to you slowly over repeated plays.  This might be the greatest band that nobody's ever heard of.   *horns*

I also got and enjoy that DeeExpus album.  Somehow I got the idea that Seventh Wonder and Wolverine were metal bands, and I don't think I've even heard of Darkwater before.  Guess my list of bands to check out just got longer.

If it turns out to be about bunny rabbits and butterflies, I'm gonna be annoyed.

What puzzles me is that the piece Slither is supposed to be a tribute to Dio. The lyrics of Slither don't strike me as being particularly complimentary, to say the least. What's the deal here ?
