NP  Iced Earth:  Something Wicked, Parts 1 & 2

Maybe not so prog musically, but some of the finest, most elegant metal around, and the story of Set is one of the most intriguing mythologies in progworld.

"The music is heavy, melodic, dark, fast, and complex." - Official Iced Earth Website  http://www.icedearth.com

One of my pantheon groups  *horns*

I never got into them actually.
I do have Live In Athens 3cd but although it's good, i'm not eager to buy more albums of theirs.

NP> Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

UFO - The Wild, The Willing And The Innocent

A great title for an album, isn't it ?

They'r one'o my pantheon groups, so I can only recom them warmly, particularly the two recent Something Wicked albums  *horns*

JP  Queen:  II

A mixed experience:  Altho remastered, there are limits to how much one can improve a 35-year old mediocre production. Father To Son is a great song, and there are other great moments, but some of the stuff sounds syrupy today.

But all in all, definitely a classic  *horns*

NP  Jeff Loomis:  Zero Order Phase

Transcendent ! - not only in the sense of coming from a position far beyond, but also taking the listener beyond.

My fave album currently  :)

Appeals to different people:  the first to me, the second to Greenie, and the third to bin-Laden's folks  ;D

"Willing" is all well and good, but why am I being singled out here?   :(

Yes it is, and a great album it is, too.

The Butterfly Man

NP: Drugstore Fanatics - What's In The Basement

This band reminds me of Tool and A Perfect Circle, which is never a bad thing... What's even better is that you can download their entire 'What's In The Basement' album for free here: http://www.drugstorefanatics.com/album_albums.php

You're welcome guys! :D

Praying Mantis - Sanctuary.

This band makes me a bit sad. They have released such a bunch of properly good albums, up to downright brilliant, and they are forever condemned to obscurity. Maybe it's the horrible name...?

OK, I'l giv'm a listen too morrow.

Guess I'l have to now  ;D

No, this actually whets my appetite (Wiki, Praying Mantis (band)): "Although a part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene, they pursued a musical direction more melodic and AOR-sounding than their contemporaries."

A bit like Ten and Bob Catley, Deenie ?  And just as much under the radar ?

No thanks, Tom.  ;D

I was just playing SMPT:e earlier today, and it again struck me how fantastic it is.  That one's a definite grower, so I'm looking forward to the new one.  I have it pre-ordered, but I have the usual North American penalty to deal with :P.

NP: Phideaux - The Great Leap

Another great band/performer that will make most of my non-roomie friends say, "who?"   ::)

Ooh, we've hooked a Nicky!  I'm out of town visiting friends who hopefully don't have the flu anymore for a couple days as of a couple hours from now, but I promise I'll check out some of your new suggestions when I get back.

NP: Phideaux - Number Seven  *horns*

He/they aren't much at all like Devin Townsend, but I may end up having more or less the same reaction (buy all of it).

Maybe it got the guys thinking of a sensationally promiscuous girl? ;D

Now, I'm on YouTube, checking out all kinds of Praying Mantis stuff. I've gone through today's arrival, "Forever in time" four times, and I love it. I don't know when I last listened to an album four times in one week, let alone one day.
