Genesis - Selling England By The Pound
Just finished The Battle Of Epping Forest which I think is an amazing song! Very cool.
Now After The Ordeal which is one of the best and emotional instrumental songs I've ever heard.

Yes, it's an all-time classic prog release as far as I'm concerned *horns*

Absolutely. One of the best, if not THE best. :)

At the moment I'm listening to Supper's Ready, the magnum opus of Genesis.
Amazing piece of work. Breathtaking.

I'm considering doing something I really didn't think I do, and if I do it will be at least in part a show of respect and affection for the rest of you in the Room:  I *may* buy this flippin album.

Being an old Genesis freak, I have to chime in on this even though it's obvious and basically just a "+1"

Selling England is perhaps the most polished album by the prime (IMO - I won't pretend to be humble) Genesis line up.  Absolutely essential without a doubt.  And I'm glad you like The Battle of Epping Forest.  I've seen reviews, where it's been described as a weak point in the album, but I personally love it.  I think Foxtrot may have the edge for me as their greatest of all, but that's because I sometime care more about uniqueness than polish, and certainly you can't go wrong with either one.   I had the privilege of seeing Supper's Ready live (sadly post-PG and SH but still a wonderful unexpected treat).  If they'd never recorded anything else, I think Genesis would be revered by proggers for that song alone.  In short:   *horns*

Wow, since you brought up Genesis, I think I will play Wind and Wuthering. Then Seconds Out. Both awesome

NP  SyX:  The Odyssey

Anyone say "SyX freak" ?

Yessiree, shamelessly  *horns*

The Odyssey is more difficult than V, as it doesnt have this abundance of wonderful melody and etheric atmosphere, but yes, we're talkin bout genius here too  8)

Nicky I know this is one of you favourites but I would have to disagree.

Scenes from a memory imo is far more proggy and better.

Currently Foxtrot and Tresspass are my favourite Genesis CD's but Selling England is always high on my list.

I've been listening to Marillion yesterday: Seasons End.
And it was most brilliant. So I'll just do it again! ;D

Marillion - Seasons End

PH

People... I'm not getting further than Easter.
I just keep repeating that track, I love it!! So emotional, so much to hear. And a fantastic guitar solo. One of the best of Rothers. Or simply just one of the best ever. If his guitar had eyes, it would cry. How does he do it?!?
This song is so good, it seriously makes me forget that there was also a Fish era Marillion. ;)

The next song though, just screams Fish. H even sounds like Fish here. This album has got so much to offer.

I can't see how Scenes should be more proggy than Chaos. I think that all DT's albums from I&W on are very proggy, particularly in relation to their times. DT has pushed the envelope with each of their studio albums.

I just thought that if Greenie has caught onto Black Clouds, it would make more sense to backlog from there  ???

NP  Dave Gilmour: I & About Face

I is a surprisingly quiet album. It doesnt grip me much.

AF is more rocky. I like it more.
