NP  Enslaved:  Ruun

Norwegian very heavy metal band.

The "death" singing turns me off a bit (  ;) Greenie ), but else there's a lot of great music, straight singing, even harmony, and melody, enough to have gotten me interested in this band .....

Seems to be a transition album for them, where they gradually leave the sturm-und-drang in favor of more mature stuff.

Anyone else into'm ?

Ozric Tentacles - Strangeitude.

Beyond awesome.

You got me seriously interested in this band now, Jonesy. Which album(s) would you recommend to me ?

This song is so hot that it just had to go on my stuck-on list (2006)  *horns*

Guess that lists are one of our fave fetishes in the Room  ;D

Electric Light Orchestra ~ Time

Yup, I played it a lot a month ago. Definitely radio-friendly, but there is some special magic about it  *horns*

Absolutely!

I'm not so sure if it's totally radio friendly... but I can see why you said that.
And Frost* did an amazing cover of "Here Is The News". You should hear it. I think you'd like it very much!

From the classic 90s period, I'd go firstly for Strangeitude followed closely by Jurassic Shift.  For something more recent, The Floor's Too Far Away is difficult to beat.  Be warned, however, they're not like other bands and the only way to see if you like 'em is to try 'em.

NP: Joe Jackson - Big World.

That's a good sign to me. Thanks, Jonesy  :)

First thing this morning:

NP  Enslaved:  Heir To The Cosmic Seed  *horns*

I like so much these contrasts: There's a very heavy rhythmic basis (Opeth-like), very shifty rhythms tho, and a cutting guitar bouncing this underlying rhythm; superposing this a dreamy, exploring lead guitar taking turns with a dreamy male choir. At the end, everything filters together in a grungy thingy. Mmmmm  8)

"Behold the great evening star
As she once again gives birth
Behold the great evening star
As she once again destroys"

I'l sure be seeking up these guys' stuff .....
