I did sleep late - 07:00 ;)  But I'm one of life's early risers normally! :o

Interesting.  My mother's told me that I was a night owl even as an infant.  Given you're 5ish hours ahead of me to start with, it's a wonder we're ever awake at the same time at all.

My other half is more of a night owl.  We leave each other notes on the stairs ;D

I assume you've met in person at least once, since I recall something about a daughter.   ;)

Marginally on topic:  I think I like this Killing Joke album a lot more now than when I bought it.  I may need to seek out more of their stuff.

Daughter is from a previous life.  I think they were on offer at the time, and I never could resist a bargain ;D

Steve Howe - Beginnings.  I had a bit of a Steve Howe ripping party the other day, it's amazing how(e) many albums of his I've actually got. 8)

This is probably totally inappropriate and no implications are intended, but for some reason, that reminds me of the cheesy Tom Hanks movie, Bachelor Party.  His fiancee's father asks if he wants children, and he says something along the lines of "there's this 16 year-old Korean girl I've had my eye on."   ;D

I still admire his attempt at Tales from topographic oceans when on a solo tour by himself!

Indeed.  This reminds me - I had a ticket to see him solo at Ronnie Scott's in Birmingham, 12 or more years ago.  I had to cry off in the end because of a deadline for something I was working on at the time - exceptionally annoying >:(

Guys, you think that I would find any enjoyment in The Verve ?

NP  Slayer:  God Hates Us All

My collegue Rune is very much into Slayer, so I'v taken that as a goad to get into this group.

They obviously are a challenge to me - but I don't mind challenges. One thing is clear to me: They definitely are serious about what they are doing ! And before I make any further statements about'm, I wanna get more into'm - just like * no, forget it  ;D

Quite a noisy group  :o - but you can actually adapt to hearing what Tom Araya is singing, and I'm even beginning to hear some melody  :D

Noone else wants to take the jump ?

I'd say approach with caution as you may find them a little lightweight.  I've got all their albums and EPs and thus probably qualify as a fan of some sorts.  But even then there are many days when I'm in the mood for something a little more direct.

Try and check them out online before spending any cash.

I can't speak to that as the only song of theirs that rings a bell is 'Bittersweet Symphony', which is a good song, but I dunno that it warrants massive album purchases, especially if you're in a heavy mode.

I'm not opposed to giving Slayer a chance.  I'm still in catch-up mode due to my (forgivable only because it's so hard to hear it around here unless you know where to look) backlog of good prog that I haven't heard yet.  I might like them now (I think I've heard a bit of them, but I couldn't name a song), since, like you, I've gotten heavier (and I mean in musical interests, although I admit to gaining a few pounds too) with age.

NP: Devin Townsend - Ziltoid the Omniscient

because it's good music, and I can't keep a straight face while listening to it.

I suspect Devin is someone you either love or hate.  I happen to love the lunatic.

Or else I'l try out an album by The Verve. Which one offers most to a metalhead ?
