The title is somewhat confusing since it's also the name of a band (not sure which came first, band or album).

The album was there first. The band Epica have named it after that album.
And yes, I guess Simone Simons is kinda pretty.
A lot.

Ah is it as good as the others? I have nearly bought it several times but something else has crept to the top of the list.
I find it better than 'Into The Night', and certainly as good as the first two albums! But I have it since Saturday, have to hear it more often.

... and it all seems a bit incestuous.

And on top of it - and her - is Oliver Palotai, the keyboardist of Kamelot  ;D

If that means what it sounds like it means, that's one very fortunate man.  I will do my best not to wish a piano falls on him.   ::)

NP:  Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement (The 1 CD version for shabby peasants like me)

Is it just my imagination, or do Riverside essentially play about 15 seconds worth of Shine On You Crazy Diamond near the end of 'Back to the River'?

No it's not your imagination! I don't have the album (the 2-disc version that is :P) with me but I believe it´s even mentioned in the liner notes.

Nice. Really nice.

That reminds me, you recommended an album or a band to me last week or the week before but I can´t seem to remember nor can I find the post in which you mentioned it. Care to recommend that album or band again? ;)

GTR - GTR

Just checked up. From Wiki - GTR (band): "GTR's only studio album, a self-titled LP produced by Geoffrey Downes of Asia, released by Arista Records, went gold and spawned a hit single, When The Heart Rules The Mind, which stayed in the charts for 16 weeks. Another single, The Hunter, received some video coverage and modest airplay. While GTR's album was a chart success, it is highly debated with many fans of Genesis and Yes. Some fans claim it has rather substandard filler material and some criticism directed at Max Bacon's strident tenor. J.D. Considine's review of the album simply read, 'SHT.'. However, it has become somewhat of a cult classic among fans."

The Tubes - The Completion Backward Principle.

Freshly ripped, so I've probably not heard this one in years.

That's one on my "haven't played in 10 years cause it's on vinyl" list.  As I recall it was fun, but there are other things in the queue ahead of it for vinyl replacement.

NP: Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement: "The Min"   :P

Played Last Night While You Lot and Your Biscuits Were Sleeping: Kamelot - Ghost Opera: The Second Coming

The second (mostly live) disc is really good stuff -- appears to have been recorded at a concert in Belgrade.   I do think the instruments on March of Mephisto sound a bit diluted compared to the studio version though.

I did all of my Tubes replacing some years ago, except for 'Remote Control' which I somehow overlooked.  Only just gotten around to ripping them, however.  Cool band, not the greatest thing on the planet but very enjoyable.

It isn't in any way substandard, but it is very AOR and thus wouldn't appeal to every Hackett/Howe fan.  Not one I'm ever going to play that often, but nice to give it a workout from time to time.

Although I've heard the term 'AOR' a lot, I was never quite sure what it meant.  Is it essentially code for "intelligent pop?"

That's probably as good a take as any.  To me, Adult Orientated Rock was always the highly polished, radio-friendly stuff like Asia, Boston, Foreigner, Styx etc.  Still more rock than pop to me, but I can see the link you're getting at.
