NP : Pendragon : Pure

First listen. So far (third song), my impression is that you get the typical Pendragon sound (soft and ethereal) but with the addition of some heavy but still very melodic riffing. It makes me think a bit of "PT's (FOABP period) crosses Pendragon". And I like it a lot  *horns*

More thoughts to come after listening to the second half of the album.

NP: Phish - A Live One

Definitely not prog.  They were touted by some as the next Grateful Dead -- apparently they've got a bit of the same culture following them around.  They have some fun tunes, but, like the Dead, they do tend to go off on long aimless improvisations for 20 minutes at a time.  They're a good choice for me right now because I have things do and want the music more as background than as something I'm fully concentrating on.

Ah is it as good as the others? I have nearly bought it several times but something else has crept to the top of the list.

Finishing up with Posthumous Silence - Sylvan

I've been listening to that recently. (Wrong thread? ;D) And it struck me of how good it actually is. Very beautiful melodies and a gripping story with nice lyrics.
I'll put it on again!

NP: Posthumous Silence
1. Eternity Ends

Buidling the tension...

NP: Cowboy Junkies - Pale Sun Crescent Moon

Again, non-prog.  Making some progress and nice soothing Canadian female vocals are relaxing without being disruptive.

And then there were three - Genesis

Manatee

Okay, I was productive.  I've earned some prog.

NP: Devin Townsend Band - Synchestra

This is the mellow one.  'Mellow' being a relative term with Hevy Devy.   *horns*

NP  Queensrÿche:  I Will Remember  (on Rage For Order, on repeat)

This is in my mind one of the best rock songs eva

They're quite different, the original version on Rage and the MTV Unplugged version on Hear. On the Hear version, Geoff's voice has matured, and he sings divinely. He also sings wonderfully on Rage, it's just that the Hear version leaves you dumbstruck. Otoh the Rage version has some beautiful effects like the monastic mood at the beginning and end of the song - they'v made'm identical thus inviting to repeated cycles - and some lovely whistling and voices coming from nowhere.

Of course both versions are musts for people who love music  :) :) :)

Aint that right, Mad ?

Somehow women intrigue me, particularly the hot ones  ;)

Maybe I'm a closet Frenchie. Whadaya say, Bupsie ?  :D

Hot ones are very nice indeed, but they're a bit too distracting if you've got serious work to do.

Actually, I used to have a theory that musicians (both men and women) tend to have talent in inverse proportion to their attractiveness.  There are lots of exceptions, of course, but it was funny how often it seemed to be true.  I think I first thought of this when I was listening to a Patti Smith album.  She's definitely talented, but to be charitable, is not gorgeous.  And then you have the Rolling Stones, who most people would probably be frightened of if they ran into them at night (if not for the fact that they'd be thinking, holy sh*t, it's the f-ing Stones!).  I was a long-time fan of Joe Jackson (still like his stuff, just haven't played it a lot lately), and I referred to him as "The Elephant Man of Rock and Roll."  In retrospect, I don't suppose he'd thank me for saying that.   :-\  On the other end of the scale, you've got Britney and such.  Nice to look at (at least was) but horrific music, if you even want to insult music by calling it that.

In my analysis, only few people have a real musical vein. Everybody else wants showbiz and aural drugs  :-\

I was also been a big fan of Joe Jackson's initial rock period  *horns* but I guess he didn't drove too many girsl crazy, indeed.

NP Saga : In Transit

Second listen and a better one since I don't expect anything proggy nor spectacular.
