Now playing chicken with my computer to see whether it explodes or agrees to record my new CD first.   >:(

Does anyone know of some good software (preferably free) for saving/playing your music on your computer other than RealPlayer (which is really pissing me off)?

Not the slightest manipulation here  ;D

Nah, I'm not like that you know...;)

QuoteYup, but not in Riverside league  8)

Indeed, Riverside is better, but don't foget that they just released their first album. It's full of Riverside-influences, so let's wait and see what they come up with next!

iTunes is your (free) friend! At least it's my friend. :) Or you could also try Winamp, I used that before I switched to iTunes.

Thanks, Tom.  I'll have a look at those.

One of the best songs of 21st Century, not less  *horns*

NP Fates Warning - Parallels

Great music and also great artwork of Mister Hugh Syme, as usual  8)

BTW, do you know the anecdote of the thanks between FW and DT on their respective albums of 1991 ?

Nope, Bups, speak out  ;)

Happy you like Parallels. It's one of my faves.

Try FWX too. Very different, dark and brooding  8)

I think I'll try many of their post-Awake The Guardian albums  ;) I already have Perfect Simmetry but so far I haven't got time/authorization to play it.

Getting in the mood for tomorrow's gig ?  :)

I hope you will make a short report.

NP Gotthard - G

First try with this band. So far (first three songs), it sounds like regular hard rock in the Led Zep/Whitesnake vein ... which is not my fave to be honest  :(

Edit : Van Halen or Aerosmith seem to be big influences too. Doesn't help neither as far as I am concerned.

Re-Edit : a bit on Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams too. Switzerland is a neutral country so everybody is welcome  ;D

Good choice! :)  They're one of my favourites, although I think their first albums ("Gotthard" and "Dial Hard") are best. After that, they somehow got soft... ;)

If you start on that, Bups, why not try make it perfect: Syrtemmetrys  ;D

Funny that one with Dream Theatre and Fatez Warning. Joenesy pulled it on us too (need a coupl'o extra 'e's now)  :D

Ah, Bluey, my metal girl  :)  You are way more into heavy metal and drinks than me. So a softer sound doesn't bother me and I'll take a glass of wine over a JD any time ... well, unless I have a drink with you, of course  :)

NP  Savatage:  Gutter Ballet

Reminds me of Rush and Threshold. More raw and gritty rock than odd meters. With terrific singin and axin by them two bros. Really strikes home here  *horns*

I haven't heard of this before, but if it has both Steve Hackett and "Watcher of the Skies," I must find it.

In other news, Tom was right: iTunes is your friend.

I always play music in Winamp. That is my friend.
But iTunes is alright too. It's great for making a music library of your computer.
Winamp is excellent in what it is supposed to do: playing music.
It's so easy to use!

Easy is good.  I do like the library features though -- keeps me from having to dig out the CDs all the time (and otherwise Pepper's Ghost would have had to come out of my car sometime in the past year  ;D ).
