There's been so much rave about this band, so I decided to run'm. Quite special, altho maybe not quite my taste .....

The Frenchies are really rising now, with Gojira, Demians, and Spheric Universe Experience.

I'm not a huge fan of the Drum Machine Years, but I don't mind the odd spin.

Splendid choice -- one of my favorite albums by anyone.

Marillion - Marillion.com
7. Tumble Down The Years

I like this very much. :) It's very nice music. Maybe not as proggish as Marbles (or any of the Fish era albums) but very pleasant.
I don't understand why people tend to piss on this album so much... :-\

Yes, but as I recall, I disappointed you by only owning the early albums.  I'm willing to remedy that though.  ;)   What do you think of A Perfect Circle?  I somehow managed not to have heard them until recently and didn't realize it featured Maynard.

NP: Frost* - Milliontown - Hyperventillate

I finally got around to sampling this on Pandora.  Heard two songs so far and am pissed off at myself for not already owning it.   :-[

A couple of years ago, I was so hot on Tool that I proceeded to buy all their side projects too. Thus I have three APC albums. I havent listened enough to'm to rate'm. My impression is that they're not quite up to Tool standards, but that would also be expecting too much.

Yeah Manatee, Lateralus and 10,000 Days are real real hot. Try to get into the lyrics too. They're very autobiographical (Maynard).

Oh crap. If all you folks think that highly of them, I'll have to go back and see what I've missed.  I remember hearing a few of their songs on the radio years ago -- I thought one was a pretty good plain old rock song (Jet City Woman), and I found the others annoying.  I guess that's what I get for paying attention to the radio, a nasty habit I've kicked since then.

NP: Proto-Kaw - Before Became After - Alt. More Worlds Than Known

Some good stuff coming up on my Frost*-seeded "station."  Turns out this is with Kerry Livgren of Kansas fame.  On first listen, I like it a lot.  Also hearing some good stuff from Kamelot that bears further investigation.

Queensrÿche - Live Evolution.

The live DVD version of this is an amazing performance (might have to dig it out over the weekend) but unfortunately doesn't include all the tracks from the CD set. >:(

I'd say that the Q catalog is rather uneven. Some songs could be characterised as regular rock. Then there are others that are pure genius.

My faves are "Operation: Mindcrime" I & II. Those I return to every so often these days  *horns*
