Relish the moment! ;)  The official HMHB site is at http://www.hmhb.co.uk/ and if you click on the various album covers you'll find explanations for some of the references.  The track you're listening to is from 'Back in the DHSS/Trumpton Riots' CD (http://cobweb.businesscollaborator.com/hmhb/records/BInDHSS.htm) which says this about Mr Hammond:

Gibraltarian Singer/songwriter from the 70's, can be blamed for Cher and Michael Bolton. He did commit other crimes against humanity - the greatest of which must surely be his co-authorship of Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". Not that he contented himself with inflicting his songs on the world via third parties. Oh no, back in the early '70s the bugger actually went and did it himself with a song called "Free Electric Band" which proudly proclaimed ...I gave it up for music/And the Free Electric Band (he needn't have bothered).

Oh dear, it appears he's been a very bad boy indeed.  In light of the above, I can certainly understand why discerning ladies would prefer conversation with minute sea life.

NP: Little Feat - Representing the Mambo - 1. Texas Twister

A bite of Americana to cleanse the palate before sampling the next bite of Biscuit.  ;)

To be honest, this album is pretty lousy, but the first song is fun.  I doubt I'll last more than a few songs more before ejecting.
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

Manatee

Okay, the next two songs were even worse than I remembered.  This requires something heavy and high-quality to drive that out of my head.

NP: Devin Townsend - Terria - 3. Earth Day

I play this pretty much everyday, and I have no plans to stop in the near future.  *horns*

Yes, whilst I recognise there's certainly musicianship involved in Little Feat the band never did anything for me, either!

NP: PJ Harvey - 4-Track Demos.

Dang, I love that album.  I have to figure out where I buried it.  Probably I bought it on vinyl, which means it's boxed up with all the other things languishing because I can't be bothered to get a new ground wire for my turntable (or buy a new turntable if they still make the things).

NP: After Forever: Energize Me (presumably on whatever their newest album is, but I got it on a freebie sampler when I ordered something else  ;D )

Dang, I love that album.

I did vinyl replacement on that one last year.  As the CD was 2.98 UK pounds from Amazon I thought it would be rude not to! ;D

My turntable still works, but as the cartridge is moving coil it won't plug directly into most things these days.  I was using a pre-amp with a built-in moving coil stage, but that expired a couple of years back.  I can't be bothered spending money to fix things, I'm just concentrating on replacing vinyl instead.
